19086, Fuel Pressure Gauge do you need it?

Just wondering but I hear a lot of talk about fuel pressure and stuff. Is it really neccessary to know your Fuel pressure? I mean AF ratio gauge should tell you if you getting enough fuel or not right? haha I'm running out of stealthy places to put gauges also :P

I would say yes to a fuel pressure gauge. Either mechanical or electrical, both will tell you exactly how much pressure you are running at any given time.

real cheap upgrade. get somethign that reads up to 160psi. Any pressure gauge will do.

so erm is having too much pressure or too little bad? Haha I know having too little is bad but will high pressure make your injectors explode or something? heh cuz that FPR sure boosts pressure up.

I have a mechanical gauge, I use it to check fuel idle pressure and under-load pressure, about once a week(when my engine is actually running, hehe), just to make sure everything is ok, I like to be able to monitor different aspects of my engine

I have an electric fuel pressure gauge. it's just fun to watch the corrolation between boost, fuel pressure, EGT, and O2 sensor voltage when you go WOT in third gear from a 50MPH roll.

It's just plain fun to watch.

where can i get an electrical FP gauge that reads 150 or more psi? autometers gauges only read to 100psi. i need something electrical preferably, but i guess if needed i can install a mechanical one and mount it on my cars hood or windshield cowl.
can i use an autometer oil pressure gauge? if so, should i go with the 0-150 or 0-200 psi oil pressure? will my car ever see more than 150 pounds of fuel pressure (ill most likely top out at 15 pounds of boost eventually), but if i ever went 20+ will my pressures eclipse, (hehe), 150psi?

stick with the 1-100 psi on fuel and 0-100 psi on oil you will not need to go any higher unless you plan on setting records. hehe late mike

10lb boost = 110 fuel pressure. You will need 160psi fuel pressure gauge. Too much fuel (running rich) will hurt performance. Although it might not blow your engine like running lean, it could destroy o2 sensors and spark plugs a hell of a lot faster. Not to mention, too much fuel is bad for performance and a waste of fuel (which is damn expensive).

thats what i thought, so again, who makes a 160psi fuel gauge? autometer doesnt.

Autometer has to make one. THEY HAVE TO, if they dont, I will cry. They sell every kind of gauge known to man for cars with a HELL of a LOT more POWER. Im sure some of these damn 7second cars get more than 100psi fuel pressure.

they do make plenty of FP gauges but none of them read over 100 psi (at least not the ultra-lite's that i am looking for). they even sell a 0-15psi FP gauge...WTF? in what instance would you need a fuel pressure gauge that reads 15psi? maybe if youre using it on a moped?

0 - 15 PSI would be for cars with carbs, not fuel injection. They run realy low FP.

Instead of worrying about not being able to read your gauge at the INSANELY HIGH fuel pressure of 110psi, why not get larger injectors and run much lower fuel pressure levels?

hmm well one reason I'm asking is if too high a fuel pressure is bad? Sounds pretty pointless to have one the way you guys put it. I just look at the AF meter and know if I'm rich or what. Haha yes running rich sucks gotta fix that somehow probably turn up the boost once I find out what's wrong with my engine.
