19030, DFI Gen 7 Posted by 992gnt, Apr-04-02 06:34 AM
Have any of you guys downloaded the Gen 7 software demo? I just checked it out after talking to Mike, Accels DFI Tech (Thanks for the help Mike !!!). The Gen 7 is the BOMB! I may get it before they work out the ignition problems. Almost every tuning issue I'm having is addressed EASILY with the Gen 7 software. Too bad it won't work with my Gen 6 ECU or harness. If you want to check it out, go to mrgasket.com click on the DFI icon, and the click on the "Calmap Software" icon. After finally getting some good answers about the Gen 6, I think I may be ready to hit the track soon. Very soon. }>

I'm having nothing but trouble with mine. One minute it's running great, the next it's sputtering and surging. It's becoming very frustrating. It won't pull cleanly past 15psi no matter how rich or lean I make it. Argghhh!

I'm glad mines working out for me, hehe :-) seems like everyone else is having probs, but mine is good to go(knock on wood).

Hey, can you send me a copy of your DFI file? I'd really like to compare the 2 and see if something obvious shows up. I having lots of trouble over 15psi and it's becoming annoying. Do you use the Power Tuner? Is anyone using the Power Tuner besides me?

The only files I have right now are just Hahn's files they preload on there, I havent dyno tuned it yet, but I will send you a copy when I get it straightened out. Mine runs real rich through the whole rpm range.... like my idle average is .99v on the o2 sensor, but its wierd cause it drives strong, and i can runs as much boost as i want, but you can tell it could be faster if it was leaned out... the kit hahn supplies doesnt include the air temp wires and stuff to hook it up, so the way its set up, when its not setup, it is enriching the fuel 3.9% all the time, cause haveing it not hooked up makes it read an extreme value, -4F in my case..., so its enriching it as much as it can... i need to get that straightened out when my engine and tranny are back in.

Do you have the DFI o2 sensor on your setup? Or are you just reading the stock sensor? My stock o2 sensor is cycling like the car is in closed loop - all the time. The DFI is set up for open loop and this weekend I'll be finishing up the DFI o2 installation. Car runs like crap. Black plugs, soot on the rear bumper, bucks and surges under acceleration (around 5k and 10psi) but if I lean it out (with the Power Tuner)it gets worse. And the egt's are so high, I can't run WOT past about 6200-6500 rpm in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I redid the base fuel map to 110%. Ran like crap. Did another base fuel map at 90%. Seemed a little better. Now there's a bad stumble in 3rd around 3500rpm. Almost like it's missing (ignition). Tyr the same pull 5 minutes later, it's fine. I just made an 85% and an 80% map. I'll be trying those tomorrow. I think I'm gonna go sleep on it now.

Damn, the symptoms you just described are pretty much what I am having problems with. Does anyone else have any problem with the Accel DFI, V6? And how the heck did HRC get theirs to run efficiently (if at all)? I'm definitely going to call HRC. It's very upsetting to just have spent about $1500 for the Accel and ignition, and the car runs like crap when it starts. This is B.S.!
