18675, spark plug question... Posted by Eclipze97, Mar-29-02 10:29 AM
it's been 7000 turboed miles(2 oil changes) and my spark plugs look fine(all of them pretty much gray). I thought i was running rich, but i guess that's not the case. I'm just wondering I hear turbo'd ppl on this board changing them every oil change. so shouldn't they be getting worse, they look like their put in 2 weeks ago. this might sound stupid that i'm worrying about my spark plugs looking normal but I thought adding a turbo meant going through spark plugs every oil change. Do you think something's up or am i just gettin worried over nothing.

If it looks good, then I wouldn't worry about it. Many of us go through new plugs because either: the fuel system is too rich (carbon buildup), or too lean, possibly from detonation. It's not necessary to change plugs unless they're fouled up or damaged--unless you don't mind spending an extra $6-8 at every oil change. Personally, I change my plugs at approximately every 10K miles, just because I gun it alot.
