2 fan mod
this is the info I got from a fellow 2gnt on aim

in the chiltons,
Suterboy: ok.. on page 3-33
Vegasdsmr: uhuh
Suterboy: there are some wireing stuff on the fans
Suterboy: what you need to do is find the connector to the fan that is working..
Vegasdsmr: ok, by usin a test light?
Vegasdsmr: while car is on?
Suterboy: unplug it and from the pic find out what is possitive an what is negative
Suterboy: the left fan should always come on
Vegasdsmr: well, the dr side one comes on once in a while
Vegasdsmr: not the pass side one
Vegasdsmr: the dr side one, hits my airbox, not the engine
Suterboy: well the passenger side one should only really come on when you use the acc
Vegasdsmr: oic
Suterboy: but mine wasnt doing even that anymore

Suterboy: ok.. a good way to test both fans is to get 2 wires
Suterboy: and connect one side to the battery..
Vegasdsmr: uhuh
Suterboy: then test the connections to the fans
Vegasdsmr: pos or neg?
Suterboy: well like you were to run the fan directly off the battery
Suterboy: bot pos an neg
Suterboy: then run the other ends of the wires to the harness to one fan then the other..
Vegasdsmr: but i can ground that neg anywhere tho right?

Vegasdsmr: which connections do i connect from connector one to two
Suterboy: you basically just disconnect the other harnes from the other fan
Suterboy: you basically just disconnect the other harnes from the other fan
Suterboy: and run wires from the fan that is working to the one that wasnt comeing on
Suterboy: run them wherever you want.. just secure them so they dont go anywhere
Vegasdsmr: ahh,
Vegasdsmr: do i need to add a fuse or anythiin like that?
Suterboy: you can just tap the wires before the harness conector
Suterboy: nope
Vegasdsmr: cool
Vegasdsmr: what kinda gauge wire did u use?
Vegasdsmr: or recommend
Suterboy: 16 should be just fine
Vegasdsmr: coo
Vegasdsmr: what if i wanna wire in a switch so i can turn em on or off

Suterboy: and then when you have done that hook the harness back to the connector that was on the fan that was working
Vegasdsmr: so i splice into the workin fan harness wires, and run the new wires
Vegasdsmr: to the harness that wasnt workin
Suterboy: well i sorta wanted to do that but never got around to doing it or figuruing out how to do it
Suterboy: yep..
Vegasdsmr: and chop the old connections off the not workin fan harness
Vegasdsmr: so lemme run this by u
Vegasdsmr: to see if i got it right
Suterboy: but do use some electrical tape to protect the wires and harness that istn being used
Vegasdsmr: workin fan =1
Vegasdsmr: non workin fan =2
Vegasdsmr: ok
Vegasdsmr: splice into 1 wires at harness
Vegasdsmr: then chop 2 wires off harness
Vegasdsmr: and run new wires from 1->2 harness
Vegasdsmr: and tape off old wires
Vegasdsmr: from2
Vegasdsmr: ?
Suterboy: yep
Vegasdsmr: right on
Vegasdsmr: grasshoppa
Suterboy: thats pretty much how to do it
