I ran my autometer from the back of the block. There's a threaded plug that comes out and you just teflon your sender and screw it in there. It works out perfect. Try the search and I'm almost positive that somebody actually took a picture of the plug that is on the back. Just watch out b/c about 2-3 quarts of anti-freeze comes out of the drain.

all of the OEM water temp stuff is right next to the thermostat. this is where the coolant in the system is hottest (just coming out of the block/head) which is the number you are interested in.

Agreed. Thats where I tee'd mine off of. Just make sure you tee off the gauge sender unit and not the ECU sender. Chiltons has a good diagram of where it is.

Or you can do what some have done. Buy a metal tube that goes on your upper raditor hose. It has a tap for the AM sensor. you just cut your hose and get 2 more clamps.

the prob looks like it would be way to big to tee it off, is it possible to dril and tap into the water pump pipe underneath the exhaust manny?

if you look on your thermostat housing right behind the radiator cap, you'll see a little plug. unscrew it, then drill the hole out and thread it to match your temp. sensor. that way the sensor is directly in the flow of the coolant.

I had a machinist at CarQuest tap (cost only $12) into the area adjacent to the factory sensor (viewed from the passenger side.) I have a pic. Someone can email me and I'll attach the pic, and someone can host it.
