1845, Need help on which HRC stage to buy Posted by DSMNT96, Feb-18-01 01:46 PM
In about a month or so I'm going to buy an HRC kit. Problem is, I dont know which stage to get. I first planned on the stage 1 because it was cheaper, but now they have lowered the prices of both stages and I'm stuck on which one to pick. I calculated the amount of money I will have when Im ready to buy and Ill have about 3200 bucks or so. Before, that wouldnt be enough for a stage 2 but enough for a stage 1. I was willing to settle for 14 second time slips but I want to be in the 13's this year. I was going to get stage 1 then buy an FMIC and the wastegate actuator so I can run more boost. Now that stage 2 is cheaper, will it be better for me to get stage 2 with a FMIC and already have the actuator or just get stage 1 with a FMIC and get an actuator later? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I think you answered your own question... you want to run faster time slips and you know you won't be where you want to be with a stage 1.... sounds like you are in need of the stage 2 with the FMIC upgrade...
You will be happy either way smokin' honduhs and rustangs... why not get a little more for what you where ready to drop for a stage 1... just my 2 cents...

Thanks, Stage 2 it is, but does the FMIC price add 300 bucks to 2895 or does it add to the price of stage 1 with an actuator?

The $300 is on top of the $2895 if you want the FMIC. You might consider getting the stage one, a used FMIC, $50 manual boost controller, and custom piping. You should be able to save a few bucks doing that.

Corbin, what about the actuator?

the boost controler will let you run what ever boost you want even with the 5psi actuator, it just fools it into thinking it only has 5psi

Whatever you do dont unplug the wastegate!!!!!!!!:( J/K go with the stage 2 with FMIC. It cost me close to that to fabricate my FMIC useing the side stage 2 pipes. So I could just imagine having to do all the piping , since you couldnt use any of the stage 1 piping. Good luck on what you decide. SEE YA!!!!!!!!!MWC

Thanks guys, I might just go with the stage 1, I know a turbo shop that can make some custom pipes for me for close to nothing.Stage 2 wouldnt leave me with much money left to spend. While the stage 1 would. Thanks again for all of your advice.:)
