18445, Got a question about MBC and Clutch? Posted by bonecupidboze, Mar-25-02 04:07 PM
I would like to know if it is possible to boost higher then 5psi with a manual boost controller if you have a Wastegate with a 7lb spring? I just got a Starion intercooler for my Star stage 1 turbo kit and am planning to put it in this April but would like to know how everyone does it. Has it been done or do I have to get a bigger spring to increase boost. I plan on running up to 10psi for now max but planning on staying between 8 to 9 psi to be safe until I can start building the internals. What kind of clutch is much better for our set-up? I have an AFX underdrive pulley and was wondering if the ACT stage 2 clutch would be alright for it or will it effect the harmonic balance? Need some advice on these Questions. Oh, and one last thing, Does anyone have any pipings that is set-up for a Starion intercooler mounting for our cars. hanks alot DSMer's.

get a clutchmasters clutch, act doesnt make one for us. with a mbc, you can boost whatever you want... but the engine will blow around 9-10psi daily, depending as to how good of shape your engine is will let you know how quick she will blow usually... definately save for stronger pistons.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. What stage clutch for the clutchmaster clutch did either one of you guys purchased. Would a Clutch master stage 2 be a good set-up for me because that was what I was thinking of getting. Do any of you guys know what is the price range for this clutch? I haven't had the time to look around. Thank's alot guys.

We have a modular clutch, so be prepared to shell out the big bucks. I am just now getting around to installing my quaife lsd and cm stg 4 modular clutch, so hopefully I will be as happy as everyone says they are. I will probably kick myself in the foot later down the road when I wanted to get a non-modular clutch and a lightened flywheel, so then i wouldnt have to replace the flywheel every time I burn up the clutch, another thing to take under consideration I guess.
