Ok, I need to start from the begening, so if you are in a hurry dont read any farther. Also I ask that you only post facts or very very solid answers. I dont want to be chaseing a queses. I got my HRC stage 2 installed by a shop that I found out later was kinda shady. When I got the car from the shop it ran great. The only prob was I couldnt boost higher than 5 PSI. I called Thunder over and he took it for a spin and the same. We then unpluged the wastegate from the turbo housing and found out it was the wastegate. It appears as though it is a stage 1 wastegate. The next day when Thunder came over we redid some of the vacum and boost lines (they were done trashy by the shop install) so we cleaned up the way things looked. After that we unplugged the wastegate again and seen what kinda improvement it made if any. Thunder took it for a spin and it shoot to 10 psi and he had to let off, when he came back the valve on the valve cover that relieves preasure shot Oil all over the Engine compartment (no catch can at the time). We cleaned it up and took it again for a spin with a "bleeder" valve and boosted to 7-9 psi no problem. But just as the time before, it shot oil all over the place. That was all for the day, and we went inside and chiled. Today I go to Homedepot and aquire me some material to make my catch can, come back, make it, and then take off to get my front from the body shop. It was a 20 minute drive, and I boosted 3-4 times with no problem. When I pulled up to the shop, the car was ideling rough. As I put it in reverse to back into a stall the car died. After cranking it for several minutes it finaly starts but will only run if I apply throttle, if not the car would stall. I check my oil and it is fine as far as the level. I check my catch can, and OH MY GOD! the can has a half qurt of oil in it and it smells like gas. I look at my fuel preasure and at Idel it is at 32, and when it is boosting it goes to 70 ( remember I have 440's) so the preasure will be a little lower than stock. On top of all this my Walbro is Extreamly load, not the normal load but realy load, and sounds like a hissing sound as well as the normal whistle sound it makes. When I listen under the hood behind the fuel rail I hear a hissing sound as well. I checked all the obvious lines and they are all fine. Now for my gauge readings. My EGT is at 1200 at 70 MPH and 1350 on boost. That sounds fine! My water temp is half way, no prob there! My vacum at idel is at 25 in park but if I put it in drive the Vacum drops and the car dies with any type of load on it with out applying gas. Now here is what I have done to my car as far as mods.

The car was not Dyno'd after the install due to lack of funds, but was "Map" tuned, this is what they called it. They drove around with a Exhaust sniffer and a laptop computer to tune it.

Well, it sounds like all your vacuum lines are sound, so maybe it's your fuel system that's cauasing the bad idle. (All of this aside, having all the oil spill out sounds like bad seals, gaskets...something's not doing it's job in the engine no matter what.)

What does your fuel pressure guage look like at idle or under a small amount of throttle? Meaning, is it rock steady or
does it fluxuate alot?

So you say, you can drive the car fine at throttle but it's not idling correctly? Is it still spilling out lot's of oil? Do you smell anymore fuel?


I'd like to hear more details about sound, smell, low throttle acceleration and idle?

It only spills oil out under boost other than that it just smokes alot from the breater. My fuel preasure stays rock solid at 30+ but every 30-40 seconds it will spike down to 15 20 for a split second then jumps right back up. I seem to hear a clicking sound when this happens. I just pulled my plugs and they are all burning golden looking, and 1/4 inch up from the threds the porcalin is burnt.

I talked to a couple of guy's and got some areas where to start. Thanks guy's! I did have one reply that the Neons have had blow off problems in the past and the fact that I went turbo wouldnt help the situation. I think about it now and relized that the shop when they drained mt oil to do the install there must have been some oil in the motor( hopefully) and when they put 5 quarts of new oil in it just over filled it and it is blowing out now. I HOPE! Another one is I cracked my piston due to too much boost and a possible fuel system problem. Maybe even a rare fuel cut on a OBDI Never the less, I will do a Compresion test tomarrow afternoon and see where I stand there. Then I will tackle the job of going over all my fuel system and check my o ring on the Walbro that might be the problem. I will post results. This sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is your fuel pump wired? Because that change in fuel presure seems weird, isn't that pump a direct fit so it should be sealed properly. I hope the oil thing isn't anything serious :(

What fuel pump did you get? It seems to me that you might be experiencing some fuel pump problems...

Give me more details about your fuel pump install..

I have been running a walbro for several months now with no problem, however Wyatt say's that maybe (most likely) that the "o" ring seal on the fuel pump is where my problems lie. I may be looking at several problems just happening all at the same time. Well I will see tomarrow about my Compresion, hope its alright or I will be down for quite a long time to rebuild.

but again, the only way to fine out is once you do the compression test. dude I really hope it's something minor.

Were you also running our in-line pump supplied with the turbosystem, or the in-tank Walbro by itself?

MR. HRC, he was running the walbro pump. The inline pump that comes in the kit sucks.

That's an interesting statement, have not heard that one before! Please elaborate on what you mean by "sucks"?

No disrespect, we know each other, but that is starting to sound like an unecessary flame. This is something that perhaps should have been taken up some time ago in a personal email, but it is past that at thispoint I see. In defense, if you had read a lot of the previous posts, you would also learn all the problems people were having with using the intank pump. Also, you can not blame a manufacturer if one of the most critical parts of their system is purposely changed because of a personal preference and then something goes wrong. And I am also curious on what basis you consider the inline pump to not be sufficient? Mine works great. So do a lot of others. Let's try to keep this a clean and intelligent conversation.

I would agree with you Murix about getting a little out a hand, but his disliking to the HRC products only come as a result of his car catching on fire because of what he said was a problem with the fuel system ( inline Hahns). This may be fact or fiction, but it happened and in Mario's eyes, it was due to the fuel pump. As much as I personaly LIKE HRC, there are some who dont, and will allways make there selfs known. I can see this topic that got started is now done and over with, since I blew my motor ( or something ), so I would not be dissapointed if this thred died out. Mario I think we all kinda have an idea about how you feel about the Hahns kit and "your" experience with it. But remember it was your experince, and besides I have the HRC so we are going to have to agree to disagree, let this topic die, and get started on building my motor. :)
