Alrigh here is what I have or what is on they way! Turbo manifold, T-25, Super afc, A/F and boost gauges, Greddy type S bov.
I know i need a few more parts.... what woudl you recomend? Brand names for FP, FPR and so on and so on....

hmm try a vortech SFMU and you'll need a downpipe made. Don't forget about oil fittings, intercooler (hehe you'll want one), wastegate if your manifold supports an external one. Bleh lotsa stuff. Looks like you kinda know what your doing but. U sure this manifold is for our engine? The most difficult things to fabricate are the manifold and the downpipe, you got one. hehe good lucky your probably better off with a star of HRC or maybe even the NER kit hehe heard it's finally gonna be released.

need fuel pump, fcd, oil fittings, oil return line, downpipe.

Why are you going with a T-25?
My advice to you would be to buy a kit and save yourself ALOT of headaches! Why don't you get the NER kit and be the first on the board to run one when they're finally available....

Yea the manifold will fit perfectly! Alain is who I am gettin it from. As for why, mmm I would say that 2200 dollars is way too much to pay for a kit you can put togeter for like a grand. And I'd be willing to bet my kit will be just a reliable as one of those kits.
As for the T25 comment, I dont' need to run anymore than 7-9 psi and the T25 will do that for years without dying, and they are redily avaliable for a good price.

if he wants a custom kit, so be it. good for you. tell us how it turns out. just because it's not what everyone else has doesn't mean it's bad. it's just different. if he's already got a lot of the parts and knows what he's doing, he's done the research and it's cool. i just hate the people who post saying they want to build a kit, gimmie a parts list and directions, ya know? if you are realistic about it, go for it, but expect it to be more work than w/ a kit (but you already knew that). so yeh, tell us how it goes and don't let anyone convince you to go w/ hrc or star because they're "better"

I just wanted to know if he knew what he was getting himself into. It's NOT going to be easy. Alot of people have problems when installing a kit that comes with instructions.

I guess that is the best thing about a custom kit. I am going to make the instructions as I go. Believe me, I do know it will not be an "8 hr" install to get this in, but I do think that after all my parts are here I can get the whole thing piped and plumbed within a couple of days. Not to mention I can have a ton of things already installed, ( fuel pump, FPR, afc, oil lines, gauges, ect ect.) The hardest part I have found is the turbo manifold and the exhaust piping, and thanks to Alain, the manifold is taken care of. The rest should be fairly easy.
Hell, mabey in the future if this pan's out I'll make a write up on the whole process and get some more peeps doing custom kits! So far I think this whole thing is going to cost me about $1000 (minus the super afc of course). And I don't plan on boostin over 7 psi, so this will do just fine!
Best part of all....I will have a unique kit!

I think that goin with the T-25 is a sweet idea. First off, it will boost up to 15 psi without any problems, and second, the spool up will be sooooo nice. My brother has a 98 GSX and that thing spools up instantly so its perfect for around town drivin. It sounds like you definately know what you've gotten yourself into and you've been around here for awhile to know what you gotta do. And for $1000 bucks... you could rebuild your engine along with the turbo for about the same price as a kit these days. I'd be surprised though if you actually finish the entire kit for that much, but I give you props for trying. Good luck!

Hell yeeeaahhh man, good luck with it. I would really like to see a custom kit out there that is tested and working without major flaws. Hopefully, you can get a full parts list, and a full install guide, and we too, can do our own custom turbo kits, for less than a ready make kit. By finding used parts, i believe you could turbo for a very good price..Keep us posted on how its going..

Yeah mang go for it. If it gives awesome performance in a bone stock lower compressioned 4G63, think what it can do to a higher compressioned 420A. I figure in your case, lag will be virtually none existent.

Hey matt, you still planning on turbo'n yer rs? Just curious since you are the only other guy on this forum from Michigan that I ever see. It'd be nice to have someone else around here to compare notes with etc... I still havent seen one guy in MI with a turbo'd NT :-(

By the way, sorry I never got back to you about the exhaust thing awhile ago. That was hella nice for you to talk to that guy for me. I found another solution then got all wrapped up in school and work and sorta forgot about it.

Uh.......not to sound like an ass but the t-25 will boost waay more than 7-9 lbs of boost.....

if you want to keep it at 7-9 than you gotta get a wastegate actuator made or customized (HRC sells one for like 150) other than that you will be hitting about 10+ I hit 10+ and that's on a restrictive stock piping, I'm scared to get a larger exhaust

How do I know? I did the custom set-up same with the t-25, Was it worth it?? Nope, you really have no idea what you're getting into, but I commend you wholeheartedly and encourage you like everybody else encouraged me but like I've said countless times, there are certain fittings that you are not couting on that are going to be 1. hard to find and 2.very expensive when you find them. BTW, I have an extra HRC Adjustable FPR laying around for $120, but I would recommend you doing some research and see what fuel system would be suitable for your set-up.


So to add to your list:

Intercooler + customizing it to make it fit your set-up
Piping (JC whitney)
Silicone Couplings (RRE, don't get cheap home depot ones, my friends who used those now have a permanent burnt rubber smell in their cars)
BOV flange (RRE)
FPR or FMU (I got one =)
Fuel Cut Defense if you're OBD2 (FCD from HRC or splitsec.com)
Downpipe (go to a good welder)
and probably about 25 other little things I need to mention but if you really have any other questions feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, the t-25 does sound sweet, it spools up hella quick (helps with me being an a/t) even at idle I can hear it ready to spool, so I wish you the best of luck bro. Lata

hey bro this is funny I actually had a post awhile back and i think it was called back yard turbos or something. Basically i made my own kit. It was really affordable but i also worked at a speed shop in cali. We specialized in roll cages and turbo'd anything. What people have said is true that it is worth it. My tuning has been a bit of a pain in the ass and asking questions about a "do it yourself kit" is hard to find an answer. So your kinda on your own. My car is still running strong but it is still way untuned The last pass i made was 13.8 at 108 mph at 9 psi.

if i had to chance to do it over again, i would have gone custom

Hey whats up man. Its all good about the exaust thing, turns out they didn't do mandrel bends. Oh well. Any hell yes, i'm still gonna turbo my beeocchh! Actually, i just found out today i am getting 1200 bucks back on my taxes, so i'm just waiting for the stuff to be sent in, and wait for the check! I'll use that money with part of my 2000 dollar line of credit at my bank to get the HRC stage 1. I could always use a hand if your interested. Any before if forget, did you see the post in the annoucements section about a meet out here in G.R. on April 20 th?? I'm definately gonna be there, and if you can make it, that would be cool. The more the better. I'm now in the process of installing my new wheels/tires, and a drop spring kit over the weekend, and getting my interior painted and ready too. My car is a pre obd2 model! What kinda fuel equip. will I need? Just the pump and the FPR? I was going to get the Holley pump. I hear it is a bit "quieter" than the Walbro one (that is the only deciding factor)And I don't know what FPR to get? Hands down which is the best?
These are my next two parts to get.

I would go with the Vortech SFMU. As for the pump... I don't really know, but the accell inline pump with the HRC kit has worked very well for me (although its loud).
