i was adjusting my fuel pressure for idle earlier today when i notice a dark yellow/gold color coming from the lower part of the fpr on the top half. this is the lower part of the fpr which is closer to the bracket...also when i tried to rub it to smell it, it was dry so i wipe some of it off to see if it changes color again... i hope its not leaking i dont no time for the car now too much school work... help me ...

yep you blew the guts out of it. You can try taking it apart and cleaning it or go with a rebuild kit or just scrap it and go with a better fpr. late mike

is it bad to drive the car like this? my fp at idle etc when i set it is not to bad ... it does not drop during boost or so...?

no run on it if you have to but once you start smelling fuel really bad you might want to fix it or change it. late mike

Go for a hard drive and then pull over, open your hood and take a close examination to where you suspect a leakage. If you smell any fuel, feel around.
The top part of the FPR shouldn't be exposed to any fuel. That's merely the diaphram portion of the FPR which reads the internal vacuum and boost which is sourced out from the intake manifold and works to communicate with the lower portion that is exposed to the fuel.
And again, if you do smell any fuel, stop driving immediately and check everything out. When I added the Vortech FPR, I noticed I didn't have eveything tight enough at first, and there was a very slight leak. I took care of it, but I certainly wouldn't want to have an prolonged activity with leaking fuel in my engine bay. That's asking for some real trouble.

do you have the vortex-sfmu and are you using the stock injectors? what disk are you using now? the one pre installed? also what do you have your idle set at now?

>do you have the vortex-sfmu and are you using the stock >injectors?
Before I used the HRC FPR like you. For about a month now, I've been using the Vortech S-FMU and still the stock injectors. The EIC will be installed once I get some initiative. :-)
what disk are you using now? The one that came pre0installed. It's a 3.92" disk that's rated at close to 6:1.
also what do you have your idle set at now? 50 psi

i was just looking at the s-fmu and the port which points down is for the return fuel line going under the car, and the one to the side is for the line from my fuel rail? also i would have to put a T connector for my fuel pressure gauge there right?... do i need 6 AN to NPT fitting and a NPT to barb fitting to get this done ? also do i need to put teflon paste or anything?... also i order the bleed valve option but i was wondering they said, cut the vacuum hose and insert the restrictor, i notice that one side is smaller and one side is bigger what side connects where ? ... do i need this? does this connect to the gold thing to the side sticking out ?... also in the manuel it says it comes with a 3.62" calibration disk installed which is different from what you got in what should i do?... also where do you have your s-fmu mounted i got my hrc fpr under my cruise control but the s-fmu is BIG?

Geez, you don't hald back with the questions....do you? ;-)
>i was just looking at the s-fmu and the port which points >down is for the return fuel line going under the car, and >the one to the side is for the line from my fuel rail?
1) The fuel rail return line goes to the SIDE OF THE SFMU.
2) The fuel retrun line that heads back the gas tank comes from the BOTTOM CENTER of the SFMU. Both are -6an fittings.
also >i would have to put a T connector for my fuel pressure gauge >there right?...
You'd Tee the fuel pressure guage right before the SFMU, so right before the line that goes into the SIDE OF THE SFMU.
>do i need 6 AN to NPT fitting and a NPT to barb fitting to >get this done ?
Anything that gets it done man. I found an earl's fitting that actually has a NPT female to screw in NPT guages. You can also just find some sort of AN to NPT conversion piece. This can be done a number of ways.
also do i need to put teflon paste or >anything?...
Vortech recommends Loctite, not teflon. That's what I used.
>also i order the bleed valve option but i was wondering they >said, cut the vacuum hose and insert the restrictor, i >notice that one side is smaller and one side is bigger what >side connects where ?
I don't have the bleed valve option but it appears that it would be installed in the bleed port. I would need to instructions to elaborate further.
... do i need this?
To fine tune the fuel ratio to boost, you would. That's because a 6:1 ratio is just a tad higher than the necessary 5.5:1 ratio for stock injectors.
does this connect >to the gold thing to the side sticking out ?...
The brass flathead screw that's labeled "bleed port"...yes.
>also in the manuel it says it comes with a 3.62" calibration >disk installed which is different from what you got in what >should i do?
It is the one that I have. (I may have inadvertantly described it as a slightly different number before) The 3.62" calibration disk should have come preinstalled. It's the largest disk and should be used without any rings. It's the one I have and is the one that should be used. (remember, 3.62" describes the size of the disk, not the ratio)
... also where do you have your s-fmu mounted i >got my hrc fpr under my cruise control but the s-fmu is BIG?
I have it mounted on the firewall under the cruise control wire junction box using just one bracket bolt hole and have it mounted at an angle.

ahh thanks for making it clear about the disk, for some odd reason i thought it was the ratio stupid me ! also do you have any pixs of the s-fmu under the cruise control i could see? and kaiser just told me he finish installing his hrc kit with a s-fmu with bleed port and he said, "But now I'm having problems tuning the thing. I can't get 50psi idle pressure unless I screw the static screwin all the way, and release the bleed valve all the way out" does this sound ok? thanks Jason

Mike. Just swap out your springs with the one that came in the kit. Install the Bleed port and you're all set to go. the screw not shoudl only go down about half way (approx 40 psi on gauge for me), the open the bleed port slowly until you hit 55psi.
I could see how if you jam the static screw in too far you can potentially strip the threads along the walls of the cover.
