I am wanting to order the bottom end kit, but I am unsure of everything.

I talked to Kiku and he says to get 10.5 compression.
and then said I would have to look at the crank to see if it needed to be polished before I even order the kit to know what bearings I woudld need to get, the .010 or standard?
Is there a way of telling before, so that I can go ahead and order this kit, or a way around it??

if you're going turbo, get 8.5 from what I've heard

yea, of course kiku would say get 10.5:1 compression. cuz he's crazy. (in a good way. =P).

you CAN get 10.5:1, and it will in fact, run really powerful with turbo. But you have to be really good at tuning so that everything is perfect. Higher compression means higher chance of detonation. With more power comes more responsibility. (i forget where that quote is from, but it's great. hehe)

The safest and easiest way to make good power is to get lower then stock compression pistons. You're chances of detonation will go down drastically, and power isn't really affected that much. (read AFX compression and turbo rant on the main page, turbo section for more info)

More people are saying get semi-high compression for turbo since it gives a good power gain over lower. Unless you are going to like 25+ psi than go with the 10.5.

Ok what about the bearings......
Should I get the standard or the .010.
Or do I have to wait till they get everything apart before I order???

.010 under bearings are for if you spun a bearing. Standard is fine for a engine with undamaged bearings.

I live in Cali, where the best gas we can get is "91" octane. That's in quotes because it feels like about 9 octane. There's no way I'd go 10:1 compresion here cause our gas sucks. If you live somewhere that you can get 93/94 reliably then it'd be an option, imo.

Is there anyway to tell if the bearing was spun????

I am still debating on the compression for the pistons..........

have a professional engine builder handle all of that. higher compression will probably give you a little more torque in the long run, but 8.8:1 pistons are very readily available, and have been proven to be no slouch when it comes to power potential ;)
