mention the details too if you want, or if someone on the board blew up but no longe visits the board, you can vote for them, but be sure to mention it to prevent double vote's. (for instance, if stan had blown up his star, someone could vote for him since he isnt around much anymore)

I blew up on a STAR Stage 2, due to a tuning mistake/misconfiguration by my AFC losing its callibration to my TPS, and showing me as being at 78% throttle when i was WOT.

I think the most import thing to prevent blowing your engine is an EGT gauge. I am willing to bet that 90% of thge engines that blew did not have an EGT gauge. If you can watch the temps and keep them within the safe range you engine should never blow.

I blew two of my engines due to neglect. I let the hose between the boost port and the wastegate fry up and crack.. leaking boost and spiking past 20 psi while redlining. The other time I blew my engine.. I cracked my exhaust cam in half. On my fourth engine now.. going strong with all proper precautions and tuning. All on star II and III with extra misc shit.

Some people sold their cars after blowing em up, so I think that's why a lot of people are no longer here on this board.

Dave:

Don't mean to sound rude, but i'll remind you of this post if/when you blow yours, EGT gauge and everything. Sometimes it's just time for it to go ;-)

mine went out after i got back from nopi. I guess 5000 miles in a week and a half isn't good :-)
That and i've hit 15+ psi 2 times but to boost leak and not understanding the mbc at first

Hehe, most people with EGT gauge say that when they are racing, they don't even have time to look at it. By the time you realize it's too high, it's too late. Unless you have the one with the warning that will alert you once it's too high.

I know that when its time it will go no matter what. All the wear and tear will eventually make it fail somewhere. I just hope I get it rebuilt before it blows :-) .

tee-hee, results looking pre-tty good for us HRC stage one's so far. keep em coming. and yeah, i got an EGT gauge, and not only do i not know what precise temperature is considered dangerous, i dont have the time to peek at a tachometer, an EGT, an A/F gauge, and a boost gauge all at once, while watching a speedometer, watching the guy im racing, watching for cops, and watching the road
