I know you guys have ben seeing "HRC Stage III shortly" in my sig for a bit now, well my time has come. Before I go start ordering shit up I got a few questions for you guys.....

1. What is the best EGT gauge to get for the $$ and where should I get it from?

2. What ignition do you guys recommend? I'm trying to decide between the MSD and Crane. The Crane looks to bit a bit more money. And do I need any adapters and such to hook it up?

3. Does anyone have the link to the shop where I can get the high performance axles? I bashed up one of mine taking everything out and I might as well upgrade now!

I think thats about it, I may possibly have some more Q's down the road, you guys are the GREATEST! Thanks....

supposedly hrc is having problems with the stage 3 kit as for the
axels I think its driveshaftshop.com get the stage 3 axels

Westach EGT probes are said to be the best. I use one with my auometer gauge and it reachs quickly. You can use just the probe or get an entire westach gauge and probe. But the autometer/westach combo works great for me.

The Crane HI-6DI^2 seemed like it had the edge over MSD DIS-2 when I was looking at it... I don't remember exactly why anymore. If you want to do timing control I would sugest the boost dependant retard module you can hook up, instead of just their turn knob.

But there is the new MSD programmable ignition, others have more information on this than I do.

You really can't go wrong with either 1 of them.. I prefer the crane.

ignition - MSD DIS-2 standard is RPM based, Programmable does EVERYTHING you can think of, but you are going to pay for it.

The crane is the best happy medium in usability and cost. It is boost based which is preferable. I would recommend the crane even though I have the MSD with the BTM (which is programmable)

Make your own stage III

36-42lb injectors, S-AFC, and pistons/rods. Easy enough and more tunability.

Whew! Which axles should I get over at that place. I didn't think they were that much money for those! Do you think if I'm running 15psi that my axles will hold up with BFG drag radials? I think NitrousRS_1997 ran his car w/ drag radials on stock axles and was fine. I just don't want to have to spend all that cash if I can get around it. Thanks a lot again guys! I appreciate all this help....

There are a lot of other issues involved with breaking axles other than power. That is a big one, but weight and stiffness are a factor as well. I think you will be ok on stock axles for now. Several people have gotten along just fine, some obviously are not so lucky. Stick with the stock axles for now and then if they begin to break regularly you can conisder an upgrade.

Still running stock axles here, no problems at all. i dont launch hard anytime other than at the track, and even then if im not on slicks all i do is spin. i would do like Murix said, just stick with the stock ones unless one breaks. if you dont drag launch at every stoplight or run slicks all the time you should be fine.

MuRiX i thought w/the crane you had to buy the map sensor and the boost timing control unit which adds up to ~$600. Does the dis-2 6212(programmabe) came with everything you need to control timing by boost?
