Posted by ecl98pse, Feb-19-02 12:45 PM
I have read through some of the posts comtaining info on ignitions but am comfused. I need a means of timing retard, what is the best way to go(MSD/Crane?)

Also what is the standalone stuff... DFI gen6 ,Haltech...etc
any explanation on this would be greatly appreciated!

What i have know..
haltech- timing adj. and fuel map adj. <-- do these give
DFI- fuel map and sensors only <-------- a better spark like MSD ign.?

most people get to retard timing are
msd dis2 = rpm retard
or
crane HI-6DI2= you may have it retard according to boost

msd-dis 2 (6212) it's new and it's programable. It's sweet, all kinds of adjustments you can make via a pc, or hand held

The Crane can retard timing by boost, via an in-car control, and with an external switch. The MSD one can retard timing via boost (I think), an in-car control, or via RPMS. I may have missed some retard capabilities of either unit, but you get the picture. They are comparable products, but the programmable MSD looks really nice…
