Did you have to use an electronic trigger module to install the HI-6DI2? I'm getting ready to install the ignition, but I don't want to begin until I know I got all the right parts. Also, where did you guys tap for the heavy red batter positive (off the main harness under the steering wheel?)?

You mean the tach adapter right?If so,yes you do.You only need one but I can't remember the right part number.I know Howell has it.

Yes two tach adapters, not sure on part number either.
I tapped directly to the battery for the power and ground. The other connections come off the coil. Center wire is power to the coil, and I don't remember off hand which the others are, but one if cylandes 1-4 and the other 2-3.

Thw wiring is easy, you'll be surprised at how simple the install is. Just please have a manual handy so you get the right wires when you cut the coil connection.

I have the tach adapter p/n listed as 6000-8933. Just tell howell exactly what you have and they should be able to provide the correct part.

Thanks for the response guys. The reason I was confused was because figure 4 in Crane's generic hookup diagram showed an "Electronic Trigger" module. So, we don't need that. Later.

To be honest,if you use the right tach adapter you should only need one.Howell's verified this on the CRANE,same thing w/ MSD's.

Actually if I remember right our hook up is off of figure 5. 'll check when I get home.

Yes figure 5 is the diagram for us. I think figure 4 is for the 4G63.

Again, thanks for the help guys, but I'm still a little confused about something; is the "tach adapter" that you guys are referring to, the same thing as the "electronic trigger" unit in the Crane install diagram 5? I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I just don't want to fry anything, or buy anything unnecessarily. Thanks!

What diagram are you looking at? My figure 5 has two tach adapters part number 8910 off to the left the module at the bottm an dthe coils at the right.

Now, I'm really confused. The photo copy instructions I got with the Crane HI-DI2 that I bought from HRC is 12 pages long. I see an OE 1991-95 Eclipse ignition diagram at the bottom of page 3 that shows 2 tach trig 1 & 2. My page 8, figure 5 diagram is a "Generic HI-6DI2 Hookup to Two Dual Tower Coils," and it shows an "Electronic Trigger" to the top of, and left of, the ignition unit. And page 7, figure 4 is a hookup to a "Four Tower Coil Pack."

So, are you saying that you wired it according to the 1991-95 OE diagram? I wonder if we actually have different version instructions. I'll call HRC if I can ever find the time in the afternoon. Thanks man.

If I am right, then this is the cause of the confusion. We have a four tower coil pack right?
