15193, Timing belt skipped one tooth...

Well, after almost a month without my computer, I'm back with more questions:-) I'll try to keep it short. I just got my engine rebuilt with forged internals and I've been having problems since the rebuild.

First, my car idles really sporatically--RPM goes from 700-900, and sounds like a misfire going out the exhaust. I got a generic scanner code 1390 (timing belt skipped 1-tooth). I reset it and it comes back within a minute of idling, and the car lacks power (out of time!) The guy that rebuilt my engine tried like three times to set my AEM cam gears, and he swears it's correct now, but the problem is still there.

The second problem is NO BOOST. Somehow, when my pistons gave out, my turbo also blew. So I had the turbo rebuilt. However, ever since the engine and the turbo rebuild, there's no boost! My boost gauge needle goes from vacuum and STOPS at zero! I just can't figure it out. Even if the timing is off, shouldn't I still see boost, regardless? This is a freshly rebuilt Super 16G.

If anyone knows or might know what's going on, please help.

Do you hear a "PSSSSHHHH" sound when you gas it up and it goes to 0 boost?

Nope, nothing. It's as if the turbo isn't there. I could hear the turbo trying to spool, but that's it. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Check your LOWER intercooler piping.

i had my timing skip a tooth before also when they open her up... what do you have your aem cam gears set to? also make sure that they are alin correctly maybe when he put the cam gears back in he did not alin them ( this happen to me with my stock ones ) so we had to take it out and alin it ( there is a line so you can tell ) so it would run correct and idle right... my personally experiece i had boost with this prob but maybe something wrong with your turbo or one of your pips is loose or so maybe?....

Well, I just got my car back from the dealer and the Master Tech reinstalled my cam gears and set the cam gears to oem spec. Now, the car idles like normal, and power level is normal for an n/a car, but I still get the 1390 (timing belt 1 tooth or more) code. Plus, I still don't have boost. I double-checked the i/c pipes and everything is secure.

What if the BOV is bad and it stays open? I can hear (not much) the turbo spooling up and a slight hiss sound. I wonder if that's the BOV bleeding off boost. Even if it is, shouldn't I see some boost? What I'm going to do tomorrow is swap the BOV with a known good piece to make sure that's not my problem. This is so frustrating.
