1479, Fidanza Flywheel...and clutch woes! Please Help!!!!! Posted by Jason 95 GS Turbo, Feb-05-01 08:48 AM
well..after a long weekend of wresting with my tranny...having a modular clutch when my 95 is supposed to have a non modular setup, driving to howell automotive to get a fidanza, shooting a bolt through my differential case, patching it with epoxy, and finally getting my car running, why does it seem like my clutch is slipping?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Like i said, i opened it up, and it was a modular, but i had already bought a Unorthodox Racing stage 1+ clutch for a 95 non modular setup. So, i called howell, they said they had what i would need to get it running. So, i bought this fidanza flywheel from them that bolts to the flexplate just like a modular setup does, and then you bolt the non modular clutch to it. Everything seemed to bolt up just fine. So, we get it all back together today, i start the car, and it works good. then came the bolt through the differential problem, but that was my own stupid fault, and we got it fixed. Surprisingly, all it did was knock a hole through it, and not damage any teeth. It's amazing what epoxy can fix. Anyway, so we get done with the car, i test drive it, the clutch grabs, but i can hear metal to metal grinding that goes away when the clutch disengages. It sounds exactly like what the clutch slipping would sound like. Also, pedal pressure is very week, and the clutch doesn't grab till almost the whole way out.
SO, i am sitting here thinking, i read something once about the fidanza'a step height is too high, and then need ground straight off the shelf? This would make sense, because it would put more preload on the clutch. If anyone can shed any light on these flywheels for me...please do!
thanks, jason 95 Turbo GS
