14674, External Wastegates?! Posted by Thunderous_Talon, Jan-31-02 07:49 AM
I am looking to build up my own kit. I am curious as to what external wastegate i should get, i was thinking the Deltagate Mark II like the Star has. seems to be not so bad in price and working well for them. Any opinions on TiAL? or HKS?

sean,
delta wastegates are a joke... seriously all the better racers use tial... if u are going all out then go with tial... no doubt... or if u want something under 300hp a delta pissgate is ok

Hehe get an HKS wastegate those look badass. Delta gates aren't bad, they're cheap, Turbonetics all the way bwahahhaa, you can get them in different sizes I believe as well. Haha amazing how that metalic sticker stays on that thing. Man I still gotta weld that darn dumpipe into the downpipe though, haha now that I think of it I don't even noticed the wastegate sound anymore!

Kory please:
Racers dont use Deltagates because if you took a minute to think about it they are only 35mm. Not designed to be used in applications above 400hp. You dont see any racers using 35mm tials either. You do see racers using Turbonetics Racegates on 7 second purto rican drag cars. When race cars were only making 300hp you saw plenty of Deltagates.
Tial does have a good reputation but Deltagates work just fine. Tial 35mm uses the same flanges and is the same size and roughly the same price. You choose. If you want something bigger than 35mm Tial makes a 40mm and the small HKS is also 40mm. They both cost more so if you dont need a 40mm wastagate dont bother.
