Ok, I'm gonna ask this dumb question at the risk of having my DSM license pulled...
Are there *any* Honda turbo or nitrous kits out there that can kill a turboed Eclipse? (Besides NSX's obviously) Every time I turn around, theres someone taunting DSMs or people telling me they know this guy with a "super fast modded turbo civic" and crap like that.
It's been well proven that a large part of the Honda camp is made up of teenagers that watched F&F and think their mom's inherited econobox is a racecar. But I'm wondering if someone could actually take their car seriously, like we do, and pull any power out of it.
The only fast Honda I've ever encountered was a Prelude SH that was obviously forced induction of some kind. I was nonturbo at the time and couldn't keep up.

yes turboed hondas can be quite fast... but for quite a lot of $. you can be faster than they are with a gsx and 5k worth of mods. most hondas need wat? a hb, a bigger disp. engine, a turbo kit, internals, stand alone, slicks, and a trailor to run 11s... john shepherd runs 9s and can daily drive his car. there u go

Last Friday at the track there was a SI with a turbo kit running loe 13's on street tires. He had a built motor running 10psi on 9:5 compression ratio.

if I am readign yrou question correctly, I understand you are askign are ther eany turbo kits for honda cars that makes the respective car faster than a 95-99 eclipse non turbo with a turbo kit on it (both stock blocks, NOTHING fancy). yes. I believe F-max has got about 262 hp to the ground from their honda prelude kit with an external vented wastegate at like 9 psi or something like that. outside of that and (if it even counts) the supercharger kit for the s-2000 makes abotu 300 hp or something like that. a standard 1.6 or 1.8 liter honda with a turbo kit isn't going to make as much power as a turbo 420A, BUT most of those cars are extremely light, which could make them faster in the 1/4 mile, but more than likely they will have slower trap speeds. best way to find out is to line up against one ;) ther eare a couple of 11 sec. hondas floating aroudn atlanta, but they have about as much engine work as I do, adn weigh about 2000 lbs ;) I like my air conditioning and my radio and my tv too much ;)
A.D.P. bring it on............

also... high compression and stock internals and boost = KABOOM!

FYI, most F-max Prelude is not making 250whp at 9psi. That dyno plot is just for show. Just like Jackson Racing supercharger, NONE of the SC prelude is making the hp that JSRC claims. In fact, B18's respones to boost very well. Alot of them making 250whp 7~8psi on b18b, 270whp on b18c, T3/T4E and open loop wastegate of course.
the #'s in the chart basically represent how much static compression you are going to have.. over 18 and you are going to detonate on pump gas.. Its basically telling you how much boost u can run on a certain compression ratio. High compression ratio isn't really bad. That's why alot of us can spank stock GSt-T's. 9:1 is ideal for boost IMO. With lower compression ratio you will have to push more boost the get to the result, but more boost also means more heat. Also, higher compression ratio will spool up the turbo faster.

it's scary.. because almost any honda car can have a integra gsr engine swapped in with a turbo kit.
that's what my two CRX friends are planning... and that shit is scary.
crx is like what? 2 pounds? heh.

I would rather have a nice looking car runs 14's than a shiitty looking car runs 11's. Not to mentien chicks dig 2g body style. ;-)

yall know how fast an integra type r(a damm real one) with a turbo kit would run. i know this is kinda open and depends on boost yada yada yada. cuz i saw that a stock type r runs 14.8. thats pretty fast non turbo. but i jes want an idea on how fast it can be. tia

Well I got this best motoring video and it had a modified civic type R (yup type R we don't got those here) and it had a turbo kit on it that gave it supposedly 400 HP and man that thing flew. It could keep up with modified RX7s, EVO5s, and it was very fast at cornering still. Who sez FF turbo has traction problems? As long as you know how to drive it. Anyway with money you can make anything fast bottomline, it 's how you drive it that counts. Oh yeah they did a 0-400 on it and it hit like a 12.5 or something.
Yup Type Rs are fast I highway battled one once and we were nearly neckand neck till 120, hehe but he had one passenger I had 3. But what can you expect Integra Type R is one of the best FF cars around.

A guy who lives upstairs from me in my apt building just got his f*ing $9000 Spoon motor back from Japan... He's gonna drop greddy turbo kit in it. I've seen all of it at his garage. With all of the parts on the floor, it is like the scene in F&F. His parents are freakin loaded.

My buddy Brian used to have a supercharged Civic hatchback. It was gutted, didn't weigh anything and had a built bottom. If I remember correctly he routinely ran between 12.9 - 13.2. Pretty quick for an econobox.
The truth is, I don't have anything against Hondas. I just don't like 'some' of the Honda people. Last night for example, I saw a civic painted like the Eclipse from F&F. It was freaking pitiful. I was at a stop light and he pulled up next to me and revved. I revved back, and then he turned on his turn signal to make a right...freakin pu**y. lol

trwebb26: friends don't let friends buy greddy kit.;-) Tell him to do some research. In order to get CRAB approve, greddy turbo kit is very restirctive. Drag, revhard makes alot more power than greddy kit.
FYI, there is a guy with revhard turbo GSR 7.7psi stock bottom end killed a modded LS1 TA from 40~120. http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=121404

Thanks for the info and I'll tell him (I'm not really a friend of his... we just talk about car shit), but to be honest... he's just a ricer (he has all the classic ricer crap...) with loaded parents. I think he watched TF&F and heard "spoon motor" and saw some greddy stickers - talk to papa and whamo - a couple months later he's the proud owner of a new B18 Spoon Sports motor and a T05 Greddy Turbo Kit...

My friend Sherbaz has a 2001 turbo type R, he makes over 500hp, the car is streetable, and the last time he was at the track he layed down 130mph trap speeds (thats 10 sec territory, but he couldnt hook up and ran a 2.6 60'...oh, that was on 24" slicks too, and even with them, the car spun 1st, 2nd, and part of 3rd.)
heres the car, thats me staging him up, btw

The car was built and tuned by John Brown (those that follow import racing know who he is). He got a lot of flack in the honda community after he stopped racing, but that man knows his shit and the quality of work is evident in Sherbaz's car. John has also done basically the same work on 2 or 3 other Integras in the S. Florida area.
at the time of this photo the car was "only" making 480 at the wheels. Sherbaz has since given up on the strip thing, and the new goal for the car is a 600hp Street Monster. Car runs a T60-2, the B18C block bored over to 1.9L, with a B16 Head with basically the same head treatment as John's old Castrol 9 second Civic (John has already said this this engine would make an easy 9 sec pass if it was in his civic...Sherbaz is still stock bodied and stock suspension). John and Sherbaz are considering putting the new 2.4L block off the new CRV in, but not postive on that swap yet. The car was still using an OBD1 ecu until recently, Sherbaz went with the Hondata setup.
BTW, John has opened a new shop, and my friend has actually started working for him. When i go back home for the summer, im gonna get my car dyno tuned, and if John will touch a non-honda, im thinking about taking my business his way.
theres some info on sherbaz's car at our site: http://www.asog.net/phantom but warning, his info is extremey outdated.
--- OOOHHH, forgot to mention, before Sherbaz went custom, he originally had a greddy turbo kit on his car. with the kit, he went 12.80 on street tires

i have a question. aren't our car's 9.6:1??, and if so, according to that chart we wouldn't detonate even at 12lbs of boost? is that ture? rite now i'm at 8, but daily driving at about 3... i'd rather stay safe, but is that chart correct or am i just reading it wrong.

that chart is assuming everything is ideal, ideal fuel, ideal timing, ideal temp. Of course you can run 12psi(I think grneclipse Micky is runing 12psi), tuning is the key. It says it won't detonate, but how is the stock internal going to hold up the extra power at 12psi.

haha I hear what your saying, most of the honduh dudes around here are ricers, I respect the Type R because it's a true performance car, I like the hatchbacks too they're pretty nimble. I think the only place I see skilled drivers with honduhs are autocrosses and mountain paths. But I don't get why honda is so popular among racers here, in japan honduh is nothing compared to everything else. Why buy a Type R when you could have an EVO or S15. Haha on the other hand why buy Eclipse when you can get EVO :P
