what devices will I have to get to tune a star or HRC stage 1 turbo kit? Is an AFC needed? If I up the boost to 7psi what would I need to get to tune it?

dont go over the 5 lbs without getting an intercooler (IMO i would never get a turbo without IC, you will be like all the others that have blown motors cause they got the boost fever. Save up for IC and also internals, then go ahead and boost away

There is nothing to tune on a star stage 1. The hahn stage one has adjustable idle pressure on the regulator that must be adjusted.

what about a stage 2?

same as stage 1 just has an intercooler. not until beyond stage 2 do you need to do some real tuning.

Yeah get intercooler before you start trying to tune. If you want though you can get super AFC, AF ratio gauge, and EGT gauge so you can adjust your fuel ratio for optimum power. It'll help give you some more stage 1 horsies. But before you start upping boost get intercooler and BOV I suppose, and the AF/EGT gauges I mentioned above. Oh yes of course get boost controller.

I still need the EGT then I can start tuning for the big horsies :)
