Well I have had leaking oil under my car for the last couple weeks. It was getting really bad. When greg came up here I finally got my car up on stands and we checked if anything was loose. The oil line that goes to the turbo was really loose and I think that was the oil leak problem. The question is that greg noticed that my oil pressure sensor connection wasnt attached to the oil sending unit. We tried to attach it and it wouldnt fit. I think when ray did my oil sending unit he swapped his 95 unit with my 97 unit and this is why it isnt fitting. IS there a difference between the 95 and the 97 oil sending unit? Should I switch out my sending unit with a 97 or should I splice the wires and get a 95 male adapter and put it on?

When I installed my kit, I busted the oil sending unit. I went to Autovalue and got one for only $19.99. The dealership wanted over 80 for the new one. The catch is that the one from Autovalue only makes one connection where the stock one makes 2 (but the harness is the same and there is a hole for the prong where the 2nd connection would be made on the cheaper sending unit). The sensor that I used wasnt even shown on the parts list as the exact part that i needed (although the part number was very close). I think that the reason for the 2nd connection is for cars that use the same sending unit, but have a factory oil pressure gauge (maybe the gs-t and gsx). Otherwise, the sending unit looks exactly the same except it may be a little shorter (been awhile since I looked at it).

Otherwise, I would just get the adaptor, and give it a try. Check when you turn your accessory on that the oil light is on and make sure it goes away when the car starts... You may want to start the car up on the jack and unplug the sensor harness while its running just to verify that its working properly.

OMG forrealz! I busted my oil sensor when I was installing my crap because it so hard to screw that thing in there and it blew up on me one day and I had to get a new one. I bought one at satan for like 50 bux and your got one for 20 bux!!!!

Anyway I heard there were two kinds there's a smaller cheaper one for the newer cars, not sure which ones and there's my gigantor like sensor.

What second conection are you talking about? My sending unit has one connection on the back of it where the electronic plug goes into into. My problem is that the electronic plug doesnt fit into the sending unit. Its the wrong shape.

I broke mine too installing it and paid about $50 from the dealer. I had my broken one tie wrapped by the battery the whole time I was turbo'd, never installed. Not until I took the turbo off did I replace it. I'm not sure about the two sizes but I'd take mine off and to the dealer/parts store and give it a visual comparison. If its different then what you bring its probably the right one.

why not get an aftermarket one? but that is why i didn't care if i broke mine when i installed it. i was putting an autometer one in instead.
