14287, people with star kit

Hey has anyone here actually been turboed on stock internals for any length of time?? since hahns stage one is now 2300 and stars kit is only 1900, it seems even more appealing. if i get the stage one, get a starion intercooler and boost controller, what will i need fuel wise to run 8-9 pounds (ive heard that the star kit doesnt always provide enough fuel for these levels) and is this safe??? i dont plan on building the bottom end any time soon. One last question - and egt gauge uses a probe that needs to be installed in the manifold, alla drilling into it, correct, is this something that should be done before i install the manifold on the car, or can i do after??
sorry for the lengh and all the stupid questions. any help would be appreciated.
thanks

I've had my star kit on for about 7 months. i started at 7 psi and went to 9. And now i'm rebuilding my engine due to bad compression. If you want to run bost on stock internals for a long time i'd stay at 7psi, or even 5. Just to be safe.
I've had no problems with the fuel of the star, but some ppl have added the hrc inline fuel pump to the star set up, so they were runningto hi flow pumps.

You can have the egt gauge installed anytime even if you've got the manifold on, just take it to a muffler shop, they'll probably charge like $20 or so to mount it for ya.

I ran 9 psi on my STAR stage 2 for 8 months (modified fuel system) and blew due to a tuning mistake. Other that, never had a problem.

I have 86,000 miles on my car and it has been turboed since the begining of June. I have put about 12,000 miles on it since then and I havent had any major problems other than normal turbo maintance stuff like leaking oil due to loose oil lines and downpipe bolts falling out. I was running stage 1 for about a month but the rest of the time I have been running 5-6 psi on a stage 2.

thought you had a custom system mitseclps? Anyway I've got bout 20k on my car star turboe'd stage 1. Getting boosting controller soon though :). Car still runs great. Haha yeah I get bolts popin off of my manifold and downpipe, use thread lock worked for me ^_^! I heard lotta people were running lean and blowing up engines but mine seems fine. Got an Airtex Inline pump with my kit so it'm running hella RICH right now, plus that darn starion intercooler took one psi from me so I gotta get it back with a boost controller. Bwahhaah 20 dolla boost controller off of ebay!

Just make sure you turbocharge and tune your car properly, get an EGT, AF guage, and obviously you'll have a boost gauge. Properly tune and monitor your car and it'll have a happy life turbocharged.

Turbocharged for 5,000 miles got a boost controller about a month after I got my kit and ran around 3,000 miles with 10 psi(major fuel problems) back down to 8psi and have no problems now. My car has 63,000 miles on it.... have had the turbo on for over 6 months now...

Been runnin' Star Stage 2 for over a year with no problems... I have about 20K miles of daily 7psi driving... I have ZERO regrets for ordering a Star vs. HRC. Both are good, but I know HRC is there for support if you ever have a problem or need an upgrade... Worth the extra $$$ IMO...

Laterz.

RAIZIN what happened after a year and a half? Did it blow or did you decide to upgrade?
