damn, you weren't joking about the file size. almost all the pics are 1mb. oh well thats why i have cable modem. another question, why you only at 3 psi?

i don't have my boost controller setup yet, that and i'm breaking it in first. and just to let people know, the shop said that my exhaust was KILLING my turbo. it's the greddy sp...2.25" pipes it think. they said that before i do ANYTHING else that i NEED A NEW EXHAUST. ohwell...might be selling a catback soon too.

i see. i'm not looking forward to the loud fuel pump. i might just be talking out of my ass but could you put dynomat around the fuel pump or some of that sound deadening stuff around it to stop?
13590, RE: 175hp165tq, 3psi....dynocharts/pics
Posted by mitseclps, Jan-16-02 10:28 AM
that's actually EXACTLY what i said, lots and lots of dynomat.

good stuff. keep boosting

Posted by mitseclps, Jan-16-02 11:09 AM
in my opinion, it is very loud...it's very highpitched and my girlfriend HATES it...but yeah, BOOST IS AWESOME, end of story.
ps my roommate said dynomat wouldn't work, it might lower the pitch a lil but not much. not sure thou, w/ all these turbo cars has anyone tried it?

one question: why the hell don't stock gst's sound like this? (fuel pump)

The problem with Dynamat is basically it is a vibration damper, trapping vibrations and turning them into thermal energy. It is NOT an acoustic damper, like acoustic foam, which traps acoustic waves. If it were an pure acoustic damper (and not vibration-acoustic) people wouldn’t stick it all over their car to improve sound, it would make the car sound as dead as a nail (you would get a nice flat EQ though) defeating the desired "live" sound effect.

so anyone know where to get some acoustic dampener foam?

Local recording studio...hehehe...I don't even know if that would help. You would almost have to cover the actual pump. Is the pump in the tank, I would assume so since they call it an "in tank". I wasn’t suggesting that you use acoustic foam, just pointing out the differences.

why dont you just get sell that exhaust and have that shop custom an exhaust to go along with your custom turbo. Probably break even doing it that way instead of buy a whole new brand new exhaust. just a thought. and by the way...have you heard of resize??? lol im on cable and i wouldnt look at all the pics cuz of download times. Looks nice though from what i saw.

the pump is below the tank on the outside of the car. and i know, i just didn't have time to resize them. and yeah, that's not a bad idea...until then i think i'm just going to unbolt it, we'll see if i get any tickets.

Why did they tap into the intake manifold for the blow off valve? All they had to do was add a T fitting to another vac hose.

That's some sweet numbers for only 3 PSI.I saw 5 PSI here on the board before that netted only 167HP.

my bov isn't even sounding all the time, and when it does it's not that loud. i'm going to put my boost gauge on tomorrow, i'll post exactly what it is.

im on dialup, and i got all the way to the dyno charts. when they dynoed your rs without the turbo, what mods did u you have that produced the 126ish hp and 120 lbs or torque?

all three runs look similar and gain progressively.
13605, RE: 175hp165tq, 3psi....dynocharts/pics
Posted by mitseclps, Jan-17-02 12:13 AM
the first run on the sheet was my nonturbo run. at that point i didn't have an intake on there (long story) but i had greddy headers and a greddy sp exhaust w/a highflow cat. other than that, i'm stock (was). i did have an aem cold air, but i had to take it off and send it b/c someone bought it. so they just did a few runs w/o the intake. and i did have a nitro system on there, but that too had been taken off befoer the dyno run.

ps i have another dyno sheet of 3 runs w/o the turbo. the first run was 123.4, second was 127.1, and the third was 127.5....
