Well,finally runni'n 15 PSI.Sure makes a hell of a lot o' difference.Best thing is,Not a cloud o' black smoke comi'n out the back.No burnt bumper here.Stop and go driving's the same.Quick response,none of that rich mixture foul runs.Except,when I punch it,boost climbs strong to 5 PSI,sorta looses power around 5-10 PSI(while it's climbing)then kicks me back in my seat on the rise from 10-15PSI.What the hell?!?!Anyone got any clues?Power just sorta "dips" around 10-15 PSI.Anyone?

maybe a fuel pressure problem, or you are running lean due to not enough fuel.. i dont know much, but thats an idea

Sounds like the computer is pulling timing for some reason. That could be a bad thing.

Sounds like you are hitting the flat spot transition created by maxing out the voltage on your map sensor. Make sure you have a good connection with your fcd.

What are you running as far as fuel system?

lemme' see,
I'm reluctant to assume it's a fuel problem cause a/f reads rich/stoich and egt's are low(1200's at the most,probe's on the down pipe though).Hmmmm....I'll check the FCD though...I'm runni'n walbro,4:1 disk,safc and RC 440's.
I just realized my BOV was almost all the way out so I'm prayi'n it was leaking on high boost.Hope that was it.If it was fuel any suggestions besides the FCD?

I was gonna say, 1200 at the most at 15psi? I make 1550 at 15psi(but i'm super duper rich and have afterburn in the manny... you should really put that egt in the manifold on the 4th runner...

Darn it it wasn't the BOV.If it was some type of fuel cut,why would it kick me back in my seat as soon as I hit 10PSI,then viloently rises to 15PSI?And oh,the rise from 5-10...is really slow....hhhmmm...

13556, RE: Woohoo 15PSI! but... Posted by Kiku, Jan-17-02 12:14 PM
its GOT to be your fuel curve. The slooow gain between 5-10 and BOOM hits you a 15psi is your map sensor not putting out the voltage it SHOULD at that boost level. I have this problem right now, and i KNOW i have enough fuel (stage 2 @ 7psi) but i measured my FCD/MAP voltage and man it rises steadly then around 5psi it CLAMPS at 2.X volts then a bit longer right when the boost KICKS, the voltage goes up to the normal 4.X voltage range. I associate this with the hrc FCD soft clamping. I'm waiting for the VC-2 to arrive at my door for me to prove my theory.

Sorry, this is a little off topic. Do you have to have a FMIC to run 15 psi with an HRC stage II?
Thanks

I dont think you can run 15psi on a stage II, FMIC or not. You need Forged Internals, larger injectors, some fuel managemet, and increased ignition, to run that high a boost. I think the highest you can run is 9psi on the stage II, unless you have the aforementioned supporting units. PEace...JIM

I have forged rods and pistons. I am getting a better fuel system. My question was can you run 15psi with the sidemount in the HRC kit or do you need to have a FMIC?
Thanks

you can run 15 psi on teh side mount just fine
bring it on............

ooppsss...fixed it.I was lean(although my gauges seem to tell me otherwise) around the 3500-5000 rpm setting I had on the afc.runs like a dream now.
