13512, just a few questions Posted by RROzzYRR, Jan-15-02 12:54 PM
i have a few questions. ive spent countless hours reading this board but this if my first post. ok i plan on turboing my 98 gs soon. i think ive settled on the hrc stage 2 kit. before i buy though, is the ner kit ever commin out? i want their stage 2D, but theres no info available except that one small page they got up. also does anyone run 10 psi with an hrc kit here? is it even possible, i mean i know hrc says it is but noone seems to do it. also, i understand that 300 hp is our engines breaking point on stock internals. if i get the hrc stage 2 then use other mods (not nitrous) to go up a bove 300 without adding boost pressure, is it still unsafe? thanks for any help.

Nope. The reason 300 hp is the max is due to the strength of the lower end of our engines. No matter what mods you choose, 300 hp is 300 hp and will give you the same results. Also, what type of mods did you have in mind that would get you over 300 hp without adding nos or crankin up the boost? That would be a tough feat to accomplish.

i dont know what would get you over 300 without more boost, i was jsut wondering if you could theoretically or not. im kind of leaning toward the star system now, i like the ball bearing idea a lot. is there $590 worth of difference between a normal t3/t4 or s-16g and a ball bearing t3/t4? thanks

The main difference between the t3/t4 and the bb t3/t4 is the bb will spool up faster. The s-16g eliminates boost creep, and has a relatively quick spool time. The t3/t4 turbos will put out higher cfm than the 16g from what I hear, but it doesn't sound like that should be a factor in your decision if you will be running anywhere near 15 psi anyway. I went with HRC because of the tech support and the much better instructions since I'd never done or seen anything like this before. Honestly, no matter what you decide to go with, I'm sure you will be happy. Boost is goooooood :-)
