I have been hearing a lot of mixed opinions on this topic, and was hoping someone could set me straight. My Star Stage 2 is on it's way, what would be the best ignition system choice for my car. I have a 98 RS. I have been told that the MSD DIS-2 is the best one out there. Would I also need the boost retard module for my car, or will the DIS-2 do just fine. I'm not sure if I need one or the other or both. Any help would be appreciated!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the MSD dis-2 ignition control boost retard without having to buy a seperate module. From what I hve heard, they are definately the way to go. I heard this from my friend who works for the Dana Coorporation, who tests engines all day every day so I'd say thats a pretty reliable source.

I think as long as you have a way to retard timing I think it does not matter.

I own the MSD and have the BTM to compliment it which gives you full control over your timing. This is an expensive way to go though.

Personally I think you might be better off getting the Crane. The MSD is RPM based. The Crane is psi based. They both work but I prefer how the Crane handles it.

Two quick questions, what is the BTM, and what model crane system works good?

I'm looking into getting the crane too, the hi-6di2 w/ the trc, map sensor, and the trigger adapter (no cel). Now how do you go about finding out how much to retard the timing per psi of boost? Does everyone just set it at a certian rpm and degree? And any ideay on how much i should retard it on 16 psi (pump gas) and 20-22psi (race gas)??
