13418, CEL Fuel system Lean results ? hrc Posted by pn0ymahal, Jan-13-02 05:58 PM
well i have a hrc stage 2 stock... today i decided to turn my fuel pressure at idle down to 45-46psi from 50-55 normally! well i drove it for a while no problem except loud ass pump no problem... well after i parked it and turned it on my cel pop on car ran fine... i got home hooked up my labtop to check it out as i figured system to lean ( bank 1 ) but when i got home my fuel gauge said about 50-55 at idle so i guess i was trying to adjust back?... well i checked my engine coolant temp and it was 207F and the manuel says it should be at 170F? could i add something to my rad to cool it down? i also checked my intake air temp and it was at 111F is that normal?.. my fuel for short bank ( bank 1 ) was 0.0-0.8%, and my fuel long bank ( bank 1 ) was -6.3%? normal?... the weird part was when i 1st hooked up my labtop when i got home i checked my volt bank 1 sensor 1 and sensor 2 and my sensor 1 was going up and down but my sensor 2 was going straght?... but later i hooked up my labtop again and checked both of them it was both going up and down which is normal! thanks Michael 99gs- hrc stage 2

I wouldn't turn down the idle fuel pressure. I used to play with that a bit, and the benefits were indiscernible, while I also was able to shoot a lean code on occasion because of it. It also _MAY_ have caused the hotter temps.
Just leave it closer to 53-55psi. The car seems happier there.

try some redline water wetter from RRE for $7 a pint. It goes in with your coolant. have you gotten your SFMU yet???

the car's "minimum operating temp" is 170. you have 195 degree thermostat, so 207 degrees is quite normal.
bring it on............

yeah I'll be using my stock injectors. I believe James concluded that we need roughly 5.5:1 or 6:1 calibration assuming his relations are correct. Setting up the algebraic equation I got rooughly 5.53:1 linear.
Unless Vortech makes a 7:1 or 8:1, i'l probably use that. Better to run rich than lean.
the vortech sfmu hasn't come in yet. turned out the idiots there lost my contact address because I charged it to my GF's card and the billing address doesn't match the sending address. hence there was a slight delay.
but it'll be here soon. I'll drop James a line to set up a date.
