1331, electronic boost controller Q
Posted by sean, Jan-30-01 12:27 PM
First off is anyone using one. I want to use the profec B w/ the steering wheel button. I have an AT so I want to run 6psi and then switch to 10psi once I get going. So here's the question, with our fuel system say we use 440cc's and SAFC on the HRC kit. Is there any way to tune the fuel system for both boost levels or should it be tunde for the daily driven 6psi and then run it lean for the 10psi. Any ideas?

do you have an adjustable fpr?

too bad the afc doesn't have two settings =)

WOW! watch what you're saying!! you definately do not want to run lean at 10psi. Thats a recipe for some cracked pistons!

If you are going to run a max of 10psi.. tune it to 10psi.
Then when you back the boost to 6psi you should be fine because
your FMU will do most of the adjustments. On that note, I'd much rather but running rich at 6psi then lean at 10psi.

Good luck!

basically, I'll be doing the same thing, just higher bosot settings.
I'm going to dyno tune @ 17 or so PSI and run at about 12psi.

I'll probably run rich as hell at 12psi but when I really want to get up and scoot I hit the switch and say bye bye :)
I would suggest tune for the higher boost setting, and run richer at a lower bosot setting.
my 2 cents

How about the DSBC (dual stage boost controler)? It is not a electronic, but would allow you to set your 1st boost level at say 12PSI and the second setting at 15. This is ideal for FWD to prevent wheel spin off the line, but probably not work with you as far as controlling the second setting to only kick in when you are racing or at the track. I beleive every time you mash the gas both stages would eventualy would kick in unless you let off the gas before the second stage. I do have one question though! If your wastegate is preset at say 7-9 psi, how will you be able to set your boost any lower than 7? Dosent the boost level variy from 7-9? The reason I ask is cause in my HRC kit the instruction state that HRC does not recomend and boost controler type to be used to manipulate the boost setting, but yet the stage 2 wastegate is "preset" at 7-9psi, so if I cant use a BC then why the 7-9 and not just like 7,8 or 9psi. Does that question make since? The only thing I can think of is that the amount of boost is not a perfect setting and sometimes you will hit 7 psi and maybe the next time you will get to 9, and so forth and so on. Is that correct?
Thanks guy's!
