12753, anyone tried a different filter? Posted by aj, Dec-27-01 02:55 PM
Anyone ever tried the expensive ones like Blitz SUS or Greddy n' HKS ones'?They gotta be expensive for a reason. And on magazine dynos they seem to be worth it.Haven't seen a feature dyno on a DSM w/ those filters, but on Supras they make a good chunk o' umph'.Wuz anybodyelse's .02?

I got an HKS, I don't notice any difference from a normal conical filter. Hehe it looks cool though and it's easy to clean because you don't clean it you just replace the foam. Heard somewhere the filtration was bad but the outside is dirty but the inside is squeaky clean so that's not true, heard they don't flo as well don't got no dyno tests to prove that though :(
There's on on the 2GNT page but it's like just he filter vs aem cai or something. It wasn't a fair match.

I don't believe they are better; they are more expensive because they're the three biggies: Greddy, Blitz, HKS. The reason some tests show more hp gain because they're used on a highly built street car, or they are tested on twin-turbo, or turbo cars, i.e., Supras, 300ZX's, Eclipse GS-T's. Any K&N filter will do the job, for less money.

I use the K&N that came on my aem cai. I just re-oiled it and cleaned it and all. Works good. I heard that the apex'i power filter or something like that was the best.

9d9 I think they are asking about using the filter for turbo applications. instead of using the filter that comes with the turbo kit..
