Yep...1st problem :)

About 3 hrs into the trip, I pulled over to get gas. I popped the hood to check the fuel pressure, and there where those nasty white coolant stains over the back of the engine bay, stb, hood. Watched the engine as the turbo timer did its thing, and soon coolant started spewing up. Its coming from behind the #4 cylinder and seems to spray str8 upwards.

my thoughts are head gasket or if im lucky, just a coolant line.

From just checking the oil thru the dipstick, there doesnt appear to be any coolant in the oil.

I also did a compression check on the #4 cylinder while i waited for the tow truck, and had the same 185 as i did before i ever turboed the car. didnt check the other cylinders as i didnt know when the tow truck was gonna be there, and since the leak is coming from the corner behind the #4 cylinder.

the car idles horribly, of course didnt let it idle long, since coolant starts spewing.

since the compression checks out fine, and the oil doesnt appear to be contaminated, i think i _may_ get lucky and it just be a blown coolant hose or something. But i was thinking that it could be possible to blow a headgasket just so coolant leaks out instead of going in (mixing with oil).

When i was getting off the turnpike and going towards the gas station, the car still boosted fine and seemed to run fine.

any thoughts?

oh yea, was also nice surprise to see one of the allen head HRC exhaust manifold bolts was gone, and another one was just about to fall out. seem slike i have to tighten those things every damn weekend, and even thats not enough, anyone have a secret for those damn things? and why did HRC choose allen head bolts :/

Im pulling all the piping off tomorrow to check it out closer, and if need be,off goes the head :/

didnt wanna risk driving it on a "maybe" so i called the tow truck and had it towed the last 50 or so miles. had to request a flat bed and still had to take the front clip off to get it on the truck :/

its more then likely just the coolant hose. Dave_fl had this happen to him one day. I member it like it was yesterday. he was racing someone and it blew mid race and he called me up right then and there. wasnt totally sure. it will smell for a long long time dave will tell ya. best bet at this point, replace all coolant hoses and clamps also flush your radiator

same thing happened to me.. the coolant hose is right on the #4 side towards the bottom..

..but not on the back of the engine, if i remember correctly. The hard lines going to the heater core meet rubber lines right past the head on the #4 side. They use shitty spring clamps there, so it may just be a line.

Hope for the best. I hate tow trucks and tow truck drivers... Especially when they're working with my car!

Yeah mine broke and I thought I blew my engne. But it wasnt in the back. The line that broke was the rubber piece that is about 4 " long on the pasenger side in the front of the engine. I had just put the turbo on a couple days before it happened. I saw smoke everywhere. Later I found out it was just coolant evaporating. The rubber hose sprung a leak and it was spraying everywhere. I just replaced the hose and added a litle coolant and everything has been fine ever since.

Ahhh yes haha I had a turbine bolt pop on me b4, I swear I thought I blew a head gasket or something, then I realize I fogot to tighten one hard enough. I blew two of those bolts that bolts the turbo to the exhuast manifold also. I highway battled a 3G eclipse all the way home, like 100+ MPH most of the way and up hills too and I noticed the bolts had popped out completely, but thanx to the Star manifold distnace to the turbine it didn't fall out whew. Well I tighted that crap back on, (not an easy task I must add) and I used some blue threadlock. Hasn't popped off yet, we'll see.... I think blue is pretty strong, not sure though.
