12087, my EGTs too low?
Posted by Irfan, Dec-11-01 04:01 PM
i have a stage one, and around 5K my EGTs are only about 1400 max.. is this normal? i hear about people going into the 1600s. the probe is in the manifold. any input is appreciated.

The lower the # the better.

to a point. dumping way to much fuel could cause low egts, as long as there no afterburn in the manifold, which would cause really high egts

i think most people try to run around 1500-1550 under boost.. if you want to lean it out a little, you might try that, just a LITTLE though. Running rich will cause lower numbers, but running really rich will cause HIGH egt's... like i'm seeing now... I am under boost for a couple seconds then it flys right by 1600 where the gauge stops....afterburn... damn i need money for dyno tuning, c'mon santa!

exactly. i was having a lot of afterburn, i turned down the hahn fpr a lil and its better(egts went down)...but im trying to get a SFMU cuz of the wondering pressure

wish i could just tune my FPR, but mine cant be adjusted... I have to do everything through the DFI and I'm not skilled enough to start fuggin around with the fuel maps so I gotta take it in the ass and pay to have it done... god I hate paying to have my car worked on and its hard as hell to find someone near southern indiana that has the knowledge to dyno tune a DFI correctly. Mark, did you ever get that guy down from indy or wherever to tune yours? I might upload your dfi files later if i still have them and see if that helps..

btw turbo guru's, how much of an increase in HP should I be expecting to see once its tuned? I'm sure my DFI is all whacked out and running as rich as it'll run, the cam gears have yet to be tuned properly, spark plug gap is whatever they come out of the box.... etc... untuned biaaatch in dire need of dyno tuning.....

first thing i would do is set your spark plug to at LEAST .035"

go smaller if you sputter.

do you have a AF meter? If you don't I suggest you get one, its good because it worx i conjunction with the EGT gauge. :P haha I still need to get an EGT. Where can I get a autometer one with the probe for a good deal?
