Hey everyone.. havent posted here much but Im too excited to NOT post this, plus I have a quick question.

For anyone that has installed an HRC kit (S1 spcifically), what did the installation run you? My parents have agreed to pay for 50% of the stage 1 kit and installation for christmas, right when I was considering selling my Esi and buying a turbo DSM.

Anyways.. I need to give them a rough idea of how much installation will cost, Ill call around, but just checking in here first.

In north dakota that shit would run $1k. In cali maybe $300? Shit I dont know do it yourself or go ask around to your shops.

Do it yourself. A Stage 1 is cake.

Houston 2GNT did an entire Stage 2 in 14 hours.

Dino, that might have to do with the fact of who is involved. It depends on your mechanical proficiency and how much you enjoy working on the car and how involved you like to get. I like doing the work myself as well though.

If you are around the Delaware/DC/MD/PA Area, i can install it for you for cheap. I've done stage 1 and 2 installs. I can install it for you within one saturday just myself.

Well... If its as easy as you say it is, a buddy of mine does all his engine work by himself on his prelude, so Im assuming hed be able to handle this.. I dont know, maybe I could even do it myself, hell im mechanically inclined, I just worry about screwing something up when im in the engine :) Lol.. anyways, I would love to tell them its more than it really is and get the stage 2, but they got that covered.. my dad wants to see the actual price :) So.. I was considering the star stage 1 instead, seeing as its only ~1800 right now, cheaper than the HKS. Does it come with installation instructions? Is it any worse than the HKS? Seems about the same to me.

While we typically recommend that an auto mechanic install an HRC turbosystem, many skilled hobbyists have pulled it off well. We do include every possible needed part, fastener and fitting, as well as a 40 page Installation and Tuning manual that includes troubleshooting information. Many skilled installers, pros who have worked with product from many different companies, have commented that our systems are consistently the most complete, best detailed and most straightforward to install. We also back it up with daily expert Tech Support via telephone or email, and a 12 month limited warranty on all system components.

About the only time we see the skilled hobbyist get in over his head is when a problem has arisen that he/she is incapable of diagnosing or correcting due to inexperience with automotive technology. At such times, we will recommend that the services of a pro be acquired. Surely, it's a lot less expensive than having that pro perform the entire installation. And it can keep you from digging yourself into an otherwise avoidable hole.

What many of our customers do is install the system with the help of auto mechanic friends, then take it to a tuner shop for the 'once over'. The skilled tuner can then identify and iron out any rough edges, therefore making the finished product more dependable (and enjoyable!).

installation is free...(do it yourself) as Bill said, its pretty straight forward...only thing i recommend is a different FPR. The cartech one sux!! Try vortech's, with all the extra money you safe doing it yourself you can get some other stuff for your car for christmas!! ^_^
