11722, Injector Question Posted by RyaN95i4, Dec-05-01 09:35 AM
We can idle fine w/ 30lb injectors w/o a SAFC right?
i thought we didnt -have- to have a SAFC to idle fine until 370 or bigger, true or false?
thanks!

25% increase from stock is about the highest we can handle, and even then it may idle a little rich. 370cc would idle like a harley and belch black smoke..

30lb is about 315 cc... will my idle suck?

With the proper fuel pressures, you can do it. Check out my fuel pages and crunch some numbers. The MFI page might also be interesting to you. http://www.geocities.com/vttalon/tech.html

The problem has more to do with than idle. It has to do with the ECU being able to apply proper fuel maps up to a certain size injector. Theoretically, a 30lb injector should be fine and most likely as large as you would really want to go without any more fuel management. Sooner or later I would recommend looking into an AFC though.

Do 420 Avengers and neons share the same injectors? After doing a little research, my buddy said that chevy injectors and ford injectors work the same. What kind of upgraded injectors is everybody using?(or plan to get) I just can't shell out 400 bucks for RC right now but am looking for a domestic replacement. BTW LT1's are 27lbs stock so there's no point unless you get some upgraded for the LT1 and split the price.

I emailed roadraceengineering.com a week ago, they told me if I asked them to order them when they buy 10 with a discount, then the price for RC 440s would be $290. If anybody orders them after they do their discount buy, then the price would go up to $335.

Have you been speaking with Armondo? ;-) The stock injectors for an LT1 are 24lb/hr unless they uprated to 27lb/hr recently on the LS1. We have saturated injectors which is the same as 85% of all cars on the market. LT1 injectors do fit us and LT1 guys use Ford SVO injectors as an upgrade so it is safe to assume these will fit as well. A saturated injector is an injector is an injesctor. The only differences would be the clip to hold it in and possibly changing the o-ring so theoretically it should be possible to make any saturated injector fit with some work put into it. Most domestic injectors are no larger than our stock injectors as V8's have 2x as many injectors so when you think about it a 320hp car is only putting a load of 40hp/injector where as stock we are doing ~32hp/injector. It is good to go with other domestic injectors but you will most likely have to go with aftermarket ones like I did (36lb/hr) to make a difference.

And this is the things you guys should be looking for. If memory serves correct, these are the injectors that used to be used on the old 2.3l turbo SVO mustang and the supercharged Thunderbirds. Anyone who has a Stage II setup should hit Ryan up for these. They *should* be able to work with the Stage II fuel setup and leave you in a position to buy an AFC later for much better fine tuning. I say should because I do not know anyone who has tried yet without an AFC.

the later 2.3l turbod SVOs actually came with 34# injectors, saw 2 sets on ebay. the earlier models had the 30# tho.
i already have 2 people in line for the extra 4, but if both fall thru, ill post in the for sale section

11733, let us know how they work Posted by DeanoD, Dec-06-01 12:32 PM
what the part# is etc. I am thinking along the same lines for upgrade. What fmu ratio do you plan on using(8:1)? or are you going to stick with the hahn setup.
good luck

plan on getting a vortech fmu to replace the hahn fpr. still trying to decide between gettin the super fmu, or if i get the standard, what size disc to use...any suggestions?
time to go plug some numbers at corbins page :)

11735, not a turbo/fuel expert Posted by DeanoD, Dec-07-01 02:45 PM
but I read corbin's page and believe with a 315cc injector, 8:1 vortech fmu, walbro 255 pump, with a base fuel pressure of stock 47psi, I think at 10psi boost you should have enough fuel to stay slightly rich with 80psi fuel pressure. The ecu SHOULD be able to handle the this size injector(my guess).
Anyone wish to be the first? I may still get a SAFC to make minor adjustments.
