checked for leaks yesterday and I have a leak on that little saucer looking thing that is hanging freely above and to the right of the headers.
don't know what it is. but when I compress the pipes, air that comes from the intake manifold to that little thing escapes out this groove that it has.
Just wondering if that is normal.
also my "stock" hks bov, studders when it releases pressure, is like a put put put, not a strong one time release of air. Any fixes?

What was going wrong that lead you to check for a leak?
And my hks dose the same think (turkey gobble) but i've heard that you can take it a part and tighten the screw, or spring. Somthing inside there. i've just never bothered with it.

boost was noticeably weaker...

also had a leak at the 90 degree elbow that conects to the turbine. fixed that one, but don't know about this one.

That is your EGR actuator. Sounds like you ruptured the diaphram.

Cheap fix: remove it.
Cheaper fix: Put a checkvalve in the vacuum line going to it.
Expensive fix: buy a new one.

Hey dino have you figures out all the places check valuves should be places in the vac lines to stop boost?
That would be a good write up and probably help most ppl with cel probs or vac leak probs, ya think?
How well do the check valuves work, would they break under the boost or from the nice amount of heat out engines put out with the turbos?

A check valve is a one-way valve. You blow in it, and it passes the air through, but if you try to suck through it, it closes.

You can get them at just about any autoparts store invarying sizes. I've seen them from $3 for the big ones to $.50 for the small ones.

I don't think they'd break, as this is pretty much what they are designed to do. they are plastic, though, so it's not something you'd want to let sit on your exhaust manifold or anything.

The places i can think of that would be best to have them would be:

1. EGR vacuum line
2. EVAP vacuum line
3. Possibly the fat line for the vacuum assist going to the brakes.
4. inline with the PCV system so you can't boost into your crankcase (tends to blow valvecover seals.)
