11487, TURBO BEING INSTALLED AS WE SPEAK!!! Posted by Dualgen2, Dec-01-01 02:43 AM
I bought Stan's turbo and he has been here since 10pm last night (Friday night) working on it. Down pipe is being a huge pain in ass and we still dont have it off. Switched oil pans got exhaust manifold off w/ minor dificulties and the turbo manifold along w/ turbo, wastegate etc is on. Intercooler going on eventually once we get front bumper off. Anyone here put on a Starion intercooler or anything other intercooler w/o taking off the wheels? I cant find my wheel locks so we might have to turn the wheel and get to it that way. Holley fuel pump and other small things still need to go on but it seems like the only thing holding Stan back now is the downpipe. All the Electronics I bought, gauges, AFC, turbo timer, manual boost controller will be put on tonight and tomorrow. Hopefuly everything will get done smoothly and soon. Ill keep everyone updated. -Dave (soon to be TURBO 420A) PS STAN IS GOD he hasn't even slept yet!

That downpipe is the worst thing to take off. Just use lots of rust loosener and wait till it penetrates. It will eventually budge. (I had to wait until the next day after wrapping a towel saturated in fluid all night before it budged).
Oh, and I didn't touch my wheels to remove my bumper and install my intercooler.
Good luck!

k its 4:30 in the am and Stan has started to work again on fuel system. Then we do electronics (gauges, AFC, turbo timer, VCI, boost controller) Still have oil line to do and yes stock down pipe is still on cause its the devil. Intercooler looks real nice though. Cant wait to get everything done and get to drive my car again. Any ideas on how to get downpipe off since the bolts are rusted pretty bad now? We might try air tools but Im not sure if my compressor has any power. O well Ill post new stuff in a couple hours -Dave

I am sure everything will go smoothly with Stan doing the work. It's going to be a great feeling when you finally get to drive that thing. I had a smile on my face for a long time after we installed the turbo on my car.

DOWNPIPES ARE THE DEVIL... Everything is done on my car except for downpipe getting off and running the oil line. Last resort is cutting off bolts. I cant wait to drive my beast again. -Dave

down pipe is a pain.. I had to saw mine off! if you have a propane torch or a welding torch just heat yup the flange and the rust will loosen, then bang it a bit and try the bolts again, it should come off easy.
