1148, Avenger not allowed at shootout :( Posted by Armond30, Jan-24-01 02:25 AM
I just called today to ask if I could run in the shootout with my car. before I got my sentence finished, I got a stern "ABSOLUTELY NOT! IT'S NOT A TALON." I was like "well......excuse me :(". I guess Buschur doesn't consider it to be a "true" dsm (lack of 4g63 motor). I am still bringing it 'though and running it in the import race on sunday. it sucks 'though.
have fun!

LAST EDITED ON 24-Jan-01 AT 10:40 AM (PST)tell them if that is so....then you shouldnt consider Eclipses/Talon 420a's True DSM either! that means we all boycott it and wont race if they dont let armondo race on sat ;P!!! HRC(bill) cant you use your powers to prevent them doing this ;P?

LAST EDITED ON 24-Jan-01 AT 03:55 PM (PST)Most of them still don't consider us "True DSM's" just because we don't have the 4g63 or the AWD. Even though we are the definition of DSM. Yes, the shootout in Ohio.

There speaking of the one and only DSM shoot out in ohio. Turning down cars is nothing new. They used to turn down 4G63 mirages yet now they let Glazer in with his mirage and they let conquest in. I guess if your somebody (like buschurs relatives or Glazer) they make exceptions. weren't avengers/sebrings made in the same diamond star plant in normal ill along side eclipse/talons and galants. Why dont they just call it the Mitsubishi shootout. If we didn't outnumber them 4:1 they probably wouldn't let us in either.

1154, RE: Avenger not allowed at shootout :( Posted by JasonESi_T, Jan-24-01 12:20 PM
In my book, that's crap. If anything, the Avengers are just as much DSM's as any 4g63 eclipse or talon. They're all built in in Normal, Illinois at the Diamondstar plant and employ some form of Mitsubishi parts and Chrysler parts. As a matter of fact, the 6 cylinders could be argued to have more mitsubishi parts than our own 2gnt's.
If they're using mirages with 4g63's and starions, they should definitely be using 420a powered Avengers. Ah well, just goes to show what a great guy Buscher is...

1155, it is really messed up :( Posted by Armond30, Jan-24-01 02:40 PM
Ok, the only difference between my avenger and a loaded ESi talon are.....body, interior center console, back seat area, trunk. It's madness :( and the more F'ed up pat about it, I can run my STEALTH in the DSM shootout, but not my Avenger, even 'though it is made in the DSM plant, and the stealth is made in an entirely diffrent country :(. oh well.

Good point the stealth is a dodge like the avenger only its not a dsm like the avenger. Somebody outa (sounding like Bill Clinton) bring that to their attention. Maybe Hahn cause they MIGHT listen to him.

Armond,
You should talk to Bill Hahn about this seriously. If he is going to spend the money to have a presence at the SO this year, he should WANT to go bat for you and get your car in the event. We had a run in with Buschur in 99 at the SO, he was a royal prick. He has a chip on his shoulder to begin with but if he's smart he will bend with a little pressure from HRC. It looks like HRC customers (420A guys) will be a good part of the attendance this year at the SO, so the point should be brought to Buschurs attention. More than likely, your car will be far and away the most powerfully equipped HRC car there anyway short of their DSM. I say make some call and get some politics involved, you never know what will happen!
PS. Don't put anymore grape juice in your engine ;)
Good Luck,
Todd

1158, HRC may be your best bet in getting in.... Posted by JasonESi_T, Jan-25-01 03:24 PM
Why?
Because from their past post, I think they'll at least try and get Buscher to let them run their HRC Neon (by Len Ayala).
HRC stated:
"We plan to display and compete with 420A engined cars including our own RS and also our Neon (Neon during the all-import race that is usually attached to the Shootout). "
This car is powered by a non-DSM 420a in a totally non DSM- body. If you ask me, an argument for an avenger getting in is much less tenuous. Furthermore, both Armond's and Shant's Avengers are turbo'ed by HRC. We'll just have to wait and see though!

Well they can race on sunday when the neon will be racing, hell even hondas can race that day but the neon definately wont get in on saturdays shootout (even though it would do no worse than 2nd and thats only if gary marsh has a good day). Funny how this Buschur guy was the same one who used to take his DSM to V8 events and bitch about being banned/disqualified/switched class because his car was different and I'll be damn if this prick isn't doing the same thing. On the brite side when the 1G and 2G 4G63 market dries up too much to sustain a business and he has to sell products for other cars we can laugh at his ass (notice that Mach V is selling VW/Audi parts now and Extreme advertises "gasp" honda swaps/turbo charging). At least Extreme and Mach carry non turbo parts (and one has been faster then Buschur for God knows how many years now despite the misleading advertising Bushur continues to post (1rst into 11s true, 1rst into 10s NOT (1rst street dsm into 10s maybe and that was tim not buschur who never got out of 11s until he butchered a DSM. glazer real 1rst into 10s. "now first in the 9s"- haha with RWD a Powerglide and fat slicks and still slower than almost all quick class racers out now. Damn Buschur, Damn him, the sole reason I love Extreme so much). I bet Hahn and Howell are eating pretty damn good right now off of 420A products.

The key point you mentioned is the Neon will be racing on Sunday. The sunday event is not related at all to the Sat DSM shootout. It is an IDRC event I believe. Buscher scheduled thes hootout this way to be convenient I think. On Sat, only DSM's run, which is defined by Buscher for the shootout since he runs the show. He likes to stick to cars that he sells product for to be allowed to run. Of course, he oddly enough allows galants to run, and I don't mean the VR-4. I mean the 4G64, and he allows Starion's to run, and also Mirages, so go figure. It is not about being fair, it is about his rules. :(

I will do what I can, and I hope it is enough! Dave's been pretty firm on this in the past, and he can be a bit strong-headed once he has thrown down...but I can try. Wish me luck!

Heh heh, I've heard that too Bill. Like last year how the shootout almost didn't happen because of some kind of conflict with the track and some other racing business (I forget which)

1164, Not to support Buschur, BUT... Posted by 4G64SpyderMike, Jan-26-01 06:14 AM
...the Galant (4G64 not VR-4) and Mirage and whatever other Mitsus do make *SOME* sense. Not DSM sense, but the fact that stuff *he sells* can be put on the cars. You are right about that...Buschur lets the cars come that can bolt on his products. He does have a chip on his shoulder about the 420As, who knows why. He really should call it the Buschur Mitsubishi shootout, because a TRUE DSM shootout would NOT include 4G64s but should include Avengers (in my opinion). Realistically he should make it where anything with a 420A, 4G63, 4G64, or 6G72 powerplant is allowed, but then we would have the 2000 Eclipses showing up and then ALL HELL would break loose.

Name one part Buschur sells for the Galant (other than VR-4), mirage or starion that doesn't just happen to fit by chance (or unless its related to a 4G63 swap). If he's selling turbo kits for the 420A I never heard anyone whos bought it from him and its not on his website (neither is anything not 4G63 related other than universal and suspension parts).

Well actually MOST parts do fit "by chance". Intakes (filter and MAS adaptor), underdrive pulleys, turbo stuff (the manifold will bolt straight up to the Galant and allow for a turbo charged Galant), etc. I'm not supporting Buschur's decision to not let the Avengers in...I was just trying to stress a point. But since he DOES sell the 420A turbo kits, I guess my point is moot.

Everybody wants a peice of the pie I guess. Wonder if they pitched it at him while they were providing their FMIC for the 4G63. All I have to say is SOMEBODY kick some 4G63 ass.
