Where and how does the sender connect to the fuel system? I have the sender box and the gauge wired, I just need to hook the sender unit up to the fuel system.

I have the same thing and I've asked this Q several times. From what I understand, you should be able to take the valve off the end of your fuel rail (since you have a 99) w/ a valve stem puller. Then get a 4AN fitting that will screw onto the end of the electronic sender (1/4 NPT). make sure to use teflon tape on that connection. Pull the valve out and screw in the 4AN. I haven't done it yet, but I think that will work. I'm having trouble finding a valve stem puller. No parts stores here in KY have anything :-(

I just read my post and realized the fitting part might be a little confusing. The connection should go like this:

FUEL RAIL -> Connector (4AN to 1/4 NPT) ->electronic sender

Hope that's more clear...

It's a schrader valve tool. you can get them anywhere for about a buck.

I have the sender for my electric fuel pressure guage wired exactly like that. I didn't know that was a 4AN fitting, however, so i just raided the hardware store until i found something that fit, that i could attach to the 1/4" NPT fitting on the sender.

I've been asking for a "valve stem puller", so I'll try "shrader valve tool" and see if I have any more luck. BTW... does the valve just pull straight out or twist or what? And I'm assuming you can do this all w/ the fuel rail still on the engine...?

Yes, you can do it all with the fuel rail in car. The schrader valve actually threads into the valve body. you'll have to turn it several times with the tool brefore it'll come out enough to grab it and take it out. They're very tiny, so try not to drop it or you may have trouble finding it (but they're standard sized things, prolly a $.50 piece).

Ok, I got the valve tool. I just want to clarify on the connector. The end that attaches to the fuel rail; once I have the valve out, would the connector screw into the fuel rail or onto the fuel rail. So what I am asking; would the connector end (that attaches to the fuel rail) be male or female? It is obvious the the connector end that attaches to the sender would be female (1/4 NPT).
