11240, Misfire and System too lean trouble codes help
Posted by pn0ymahal, Nov-27-01 12:14 PM
hey all, well i got my obII hook up to my car but my check engine light came on. heres the scoop
i went to freeze frame then test mode, i choose 7= Cont.Mointor system, then i push send command!
the codes it pop up are ( P0301)Cylinder #1, AND 4(P0304) misfire, also Random misfire detected ( P0300 ). this is the second time i check this test with my OBII because the 1st time it also said System Too Lean ( P0171 ) but the second time it did not right away? i revved it up a bit when i did not see the code System Too Lean, then after a bit my check engine light came on and then the code p0171 System Too Lean ( Bank 1 )? what is going on ? also it wont let me erase the codes because its still there i guess.
what should i check and do to to fix these problems?

also i did a test on my OBII and it failed one test
this is how it looked like
TID CID VALVE Min Max
ManuF $00 110 17 90

Result
Fail
it also said something about range is 116?
also if my spark plug are no good anymore (1,000 miles ) which i have not checked yet, this could be a cause to a the code System TOO Lean (P0171 ) right?
thanks

11242, HRC Mapper Gone Bad
Posted by pn0ymahal, Nov-28-01 03:51 PM
checked it all out today my hrc mapper is bad! 3.98v-4.0v max, i believe this would cause a system too lean code, also my misfires before which those codes are gone?

Those codes may disappear or you can erase them with your datalogger.

But as I said in the "Performance/Engine" section, it's better to go without a Fuel Mapper and get slight fuel cuts than to have the lean conditions caused by the bad fuel mapper. Disconnect the Fuel Mapper.

Be Ready for Map Sensor voltage too high error message. Dont' worry about it until you get a new FCD though. It's not big deal.

Yes, you have to connect your map sensor wires back together the way they were BEFORE you added the HRC Fuel Mapper.

(BLACK with green stripe: ground, Can't remember color- 5 volt power, YELLOW: map sensor voltage-range of 1-5.0 volts)

its ok now my ground was lose so it was not idling correct etc. jason, i know what you mean by the fuel cut also dame it hurts and scares me =( but also my air/fuel was moving really super fast and not always going to rich? cant wait to get my new hrc mapper hope it works well for a while . then i will get the vc-2 later depends
thanks
Michael 99gs- turbo with fuel cut =(
11248, New HRC mapper bad Again ?
Posted by pn0ymahal, Nov-30-01 05:53 PM
i got my new hrc mapper today and my friend said when i was driving it said 4.5v, but then when i was coming home tonight i was boosting 1-10psi because to check my voltage and it was only going from 3.87-3.95v ONLY? my old hrc mapper went from 3.97-4vmax. with my old hrc mapper 3.97-4max my check engine light came on and my car said, system too lean? but with my new hrc mapper 3.87-3.95v my check engine light is off and no error code which i can find on my obII system with my computer?.... also i notice when i got home my vacuum was only 17-16 when the car was in park at idle?
btw- car runs fine etc
