11110, Puzzling Turbo (Oil) problem
Posted by grneclipse, Oct-27-01 03:00 AM
I got a friend who turbocharged his mx-3 1.6 liter, (BTW it's a sweet car, custom paint, kit, everything) anyhow, I've been trying to help him figure out his problem but haven't found the source of it yet. His car is blowing major smoke, and he insists that it's not his internals but something else. He has a t3 turbo, 3in piping all the way around, and a starion intercooler, along with a FPR and SAFC that hasn't been tuned yet. We can actually see the oil dripping off his exhaust pipe, and I can see the wastegate being wet from the oil. he thought it was the turbo seals so he sent it out to majestic turbos and had it looked over and that wasn't it. So now i'm puzzled, what do you guys think it is?

maybe the oil is being sucked in from the pcv valuve, rings could be getting bad, or just a lot of blow by (which means the rings of pistons) hope ya find it!

Maybe the oil lines going in and out of the turbo are not sealing. I had an oil leak at the adapter that plugs into the back of the block and another leak at the turbo oil inlet. All fixed now though.

LoL, that's what I love about Raizin, always just straight up with the info,
anyhow, that's what I thought too but he swears on his mom's grave it isn't, but the only thing about that is, if you cracked a piston wouldn't your car run like shit?? I mean he has a bad idle *sometimes* and it smokes like my grandma, but that's about the only major prob, so basically what I'm asking for his is, if it his pistons are cracked how come the car isn't running as bad as it could be?
