10864, turbo installed...(big grin)... some questions
Posted by Eclipze97, Oct-17-01 09:04 AM
Well, finally got the HRC stage2 on the car. It's soo much faster and i recommend doing it if you have the need for speed and $. But my problem is that the boost gauge will not go any more than 5 pounds of boost. and it's not the boost gauge cuz we swapped it out for another one that works and still the same results. everything looks alright, if you have any suggestions i'd appreciate it. i'd much rather be hitting 7 or 8 pounds since i got the stage2. also, you guys that are boostin, what are your egt numbers at idle and WOT? i just wanna know what it is around the average so i know what to look for. thanx in advance--- (still lookin for my first turbo kill)

if he got the hrc stage 2 kit it comes with the 10 psi actulator or 9si either or.. or he might have asked for the 5psi actulator... i believe on the 10psi actulator there is a way to turn up boost i'm not sure... turbo guys? Michael 99gs-t soon

get a greddy boost controller (profec b) ...its worth it!!!!, that way you can have your low setting at five and your high at ten

yeah, i want to someday get that, but i'm wondering why i'm not hitting more then 5 psi when i should be at 8 or 9. is there any other way that the boost could be affected besides the actuator. maybe i just got the wrong actuator shipped to me... ???

Call Hahn and have them send you another actuator. You prolly got the stage one actuator.

I want stage 2 FMIC'd and a profec B with the steering wheel remote. It's too James Bond-ish! Sweet as hell.

maybe your exhaust, it holds some people to 5-6pounds and others it lets run to all 10pounds. unbolt your exhaust after the cat and see what happens (it will be loud while you do this)

Beats me, I don't have the HRC so I don't have an actuator. But I'll tell you one thing unless your confident your engine won't blow up then I wouldn't get an electronic boost controller. Problems start to happen when you have boost at your fingertips.

Grrr it's gonna eat you up!

i'll try the idea about the exhaust, cuz i'm only 2.25in. apexi n1. if not, i guess it's just the wrong actuator. today in some gears it wouldn't even get past 3 pounds. thanks for the suggestions.

HRC seems to do that (send the wrong spring) all the time. I bet I've seen a dozen threads about it in a years time.

Its not a spring, its an actuator :P

And either your backpressure is holding you back, or you have the stage 1 actuator.

Also check for boost leaks. Especially under the fuse box.

when I bought my stage kit they gave me a 5psi actuator too. I had Ray made me a maunal boost controller(bleeding valve), works like charm. I am boosting 8 psi now!! Thanks Ray. don't get electronic boost controller it's not worth of $ if you will be boosting below 10psi. the manual boost controller I have now cost less than $15 in mertiral.
