108433, Question about turboing
Posted by GsNewbie, Jan-15-11 12:31 PM
Ok my friend is going to sell me his t3 turbo with the waste gasket for like 250 and then I am going to buy the intercooler an pipping. Question is can I run about 6-8 pounds on a stock rebuild for my engine because I got 140k miles on my engine as it is. An i was going to upgrade the head gasket to a thicker one with apr studs. An can someone tell my the other parts I will need to run the turbo the right way.

No one is going to answer this as it has been answered previously MANY times. Use the search function. If you need more knowledge about the fundamentals then search the Internet and buy this book:

It will give you a good base for tuning and ensuring you have supporting modifications.

Start looking here it'll help alot.

Yes ideally you can run around 5ish lbs of boost on a stock engine many of us have done it here.

But basically for turboing you just need the wastegate, turbo, intercooler (Recommended), exhaust manifold fitted for the turbo, piping, bov, and fuel management

Please read more about it. What I said is just a basic plan and there is more I think I missed. You need a much more elaborate list. Use that search button!
