Just looking for some info on what size turbo you have and what general rpm it spools at. I'm contemplating going with a rather large turbo and want to keep it fun to drive. Any help or info would be great, thanks!

GT3076R w/T31 0.63 A/R hotside. TiAL 38mm WG on spring pressure ~19 psi. Crower 3s currently @0*/0*. Hahn FMIC, with 2.5" SS IC piping, MPx 60mm TB, and an OEM IM that has been ported, bored, gasket matched, and had the injector humps removed. 8.5:1 JE pistons. I think that is about all I can think of that affects my airflow right now... any other variables you want, just ask.
I have full spool at around 3800 RPM.

Not too shabby, but I'm looking at some t4 frame turbos, possibly even something like the borg s475...any thoughts/opinions?

What are your reasons for a T4 frame? On a 4 cylinder street application I feel it is a bit overkill.
My next upgrade will be the GT30/40R. great street combo for small displacement applications. Are you building a drag machine?

Its not going to be a dd but will be driven on the street, I know its a big turbo and would excel in a drag only operation but I'm trying to think ahead of my self. I'm looking to go back with at least a 10.5:1 motor again, it won't be a first but don't want to buy a set up twice, I know that its plenty big and on the verg of too big but why not. The borg turbos are susposed to spool a bit quicker than the garrett turbos. Like I said, just looking to get opinions, I may go with something smaller too.

I would look at your target HP level and calculate the necessary lbs/min of air you will need. From there you can select a compressor with an appropriate efficiency.
With the above in mind, it will narrow down the available turbine housings you can choose.

To be honest I don't have a hp goal, I never do, I just want to get good parts that work together and it makes what out makes.

The 74 huh? On a T4? Yowzers, that's too big and unecessary (IMO). You know I like the BW's, but I like them because you don't have to have the huge azz turbo sticking out there. The BW366 I've personally seen make in the 800's (yeah on Honda but we're talking about just the turbo here). It makes a consistant 700whp, all day long.
I did have a buddy of mine who wanted to make "huge powa" and go "9's all day with my street vehicle" who tried to use the 74 with a divided T4 and "extended tip"(and a 106 hotside to boot, lol. He was a 400whp guy, trying to build a 900whp car). It was a colossal failure. Spool was basically non-existant until over 6.5k and full spool was over 7.5k.
Honestly, I started out with the BW66 extended tip knowing full well I would be working the low side of the efficiency range at around 600whp. I had planned on working up from there.

So after digging around some I have come to the conclusion that I'm leaning toward the S362,s366,s372,hx-40, hx-52. So I've heard Marks thoughts on the s366(and I like that turbo, seems to be in the range that I'm looking to be in hp wise, and I'm worried that the S362ett will be just a HAIR out of the range I'm looking to be in, but may be the best option for spool characteristics). The manifold that I'm leaning toward is one of Doug's from Xtremefabrication, but possibly with a twin scroll t4 flange(I'm worried the T3 flange will have more lag than a t4 twin scroll). Any more thoughts/opinions? How did you like the spool characteristics of the S366? Was it a "drag only" type of spool or do you think its not streetable etc?

So I've done a but more research and seema like the hx40 is the way I want to go, thoughts?

My whole set-up was based for drag only. From other 366's I've seen, they were drag only also so I really can't give a first hand opinion on them.

I like the turbo (unlike many other DSM'ers who are afraid of it because its a "truck" turbo - that's not a Garrett, lol). Strong and long lasting from what I have seen. But not too sure on the spool up characteristics........

Yeah, I'm still researching and something that has peaked my interest is the HE351ve vgt. Seems like with a little bit of "customization" you could have the best of both worlds, good spool and good top end as well.
