Hey, so Ive bought everything i need to run a basic turbo kit on my car, and am figuring out plumbing right now and have ran into a problem. With the manifold and turbo ive got, i cant fit it the way everyone here has it with the intake facing the drivers side so ive decided to run it the opposite way rather then get slim fans. Has anyone else done this? the problem is the wastegate dump is going to be close to the wastegate vac line and the intake, and ran in a stupid location because of where it bolts on and the intake location, but it seems to be my only choice if i plan on keeping this manni/turbo or stock fans. Ive drawn a picture to make it easier to understand.



If i heat wraped the dump tube would i be able to get away with this setup? or should run the wastegate in a different location? I might also be able to cut up the stock fan housing a bit and make a tight fit. Or is there another way that i havnt thought of. there is probably an inch and a bit distance from the exhaust housing and the wastegate at right now.

not many do it that way, but it depends on your turbo/mani combo. one reason is because of the hard coolant line getting in the way as it's spaced out further. that's why most people plumb their DP where there's more clearance. Near the water pump.

The wastegate dump and downpipe look like they are going to be awkward. I wouldn't sacrifice the design of important components just to re-use stock fans.

Well, I did mine opposite of the "norm" because I liked the way the exhaust flowed from that side. It just seemed to be a cleaner flow with better/smoother bends.

But our systems tend to be individualized to each component within our set-ups. You have a different exhaust mani than I do. You have a different turbo than I do. You have a different intercooler than me. I have a Honda 1/2 radiator setup with the radiator on the driver side. Just so much individuality in our set-ups.

But with that being said, what I did for the wastegate is I ran a NAPA flexible exhaust hose off the wastegate and sent it out of the car (you could send it in either direction). I then wrapped it in heat wrap. Here's a crappy pic;

While I like the idea of flipping the turbo intake to the passenger side, I'm thinking (like Corbin) that fan interference is not necessarilly the best reason to do it.

alright thanks for the advice so far. Would i be able to run with just one fan? To my understanding the second one only kicks on when you use ac, and sence my ac is broken i dont use it.
