I'm kind of inexperienced when it comes to the 420a. I've done some research on these motors and have read a lot about how the oem stock rods are mainly the weakest part of the 420a's. Which is the reason why high boost levels can not be acheived on the stock internals. My question is if the rods are replaced with say eagle forged rods with the stock 9.6:1 compression pistons about how much boost can be attained in this type of set up safely? If someone could give me some sort of insite into this it would be appreciated, thank you.

forged pistons on stock rods have reported to handle 19psi. Check that out.

you've got it backwards. ring lands on the pistons go first. rods are a lil stronger.

{pet peeve rant coming} Boost level is not a measure of power. 20 lbs on a 14b will not have the same power as 20lbs on a 42r {rant over. That was quick}.

With that being said, I'm running 29lbs on a BW366 with 10.5 comp. The set-up will easily go higher. But it is limited by spark blow out right now. Need to upgrade.

I ran 12 psi on mine on a e'gay t3-t4 turbo all stock and with nothing to tune it or pull timing....ran nice!

All was good when I pulled the internals no damage on the ring lands or rods... I still have them ...lol But going with forged internals so I can up the boost safely...

this is kind of a dead topic but you may want to know this. the eagle rods dont fit right up to stock pistons. the wrist pins on the stock pistons are different from those on the eagle rods.
