106887, what turbo to use for street/strip..?
Posted by Cyexmaster, Jul-12-09 08:20 AM
Well heres a list from a shop that's moving to some other place and they are selling all they have in stock so prices are really low!

I want a turbo for street/strip. And want to make close to 400 or a lil over. And I dont want to go past 25psi...

Here are the options I think the should have more stuff but haven't called yet..

Turbo Bullseye Power S480 Race Cover (9.5") T-6 1.32 A/R 96mm TW
Equivalent to GT4788.

Turbo Bullseye Power S256 T-3 .76 Divided A/R
Equivalent to GT3071

Turbina Bullseye Power S259 T-3 .76 Divided A/R
Equivalent to GT3071

Turbo Bullseye Power S252 SS External Wastegate or T-3 .55 A/R SS
Equivalente a la GT28

Turbo Bullseye Power S259 T-3 .55 SS A/R
Equivalent to GT3076

Turbo T3/t4e 57 Trim .70A/R V-band(3")

I am leaning towards the last one, but I really would like some info on this...

thanxs in advance

That would work. Just do not buy the first one. Unless it is just to hang it on your wall.

Well the first one is on a T6 frame and thats HUGE! You would never spool that mother, I would go with either of the variants of the 3071 for the displacement of a low comp 2.0. Its still going to take a sec for either of those turbos to spool. And they will also need to be water cooled just so you know!

There Mikey, I fixed it for you. At least thats your normal mentality. I wouldn't go with the T3T4 57 trim unless the others are a LOT more and its not an ebay and turbo.

The 57trim is also Bullseye turbo , and is the least expensive on too.

And I do have low comp, 8.8:1 JE's

I don't think you will be able to get to 400 on a 57 trim, but I could be wrong.

why not? it should have enough airflow to reach at least low 400's

WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ZAC. 400 is VERY possible on a 57 trim. Just because there are TONS of t3/t4's on ebay doesnt rule out that type of turbo. I guess you shouldnt buy a turbonetics t3/t4 because ebay has tons of knockoffs like it???

by the way, there are tons of options out there for t3/t4's, moreso than most any other turbo i've seen. Plus like he said, one of the cheapest because of it being one of the turbos most mass produced.

BOOOYEA. good to hear ur car's running zac :)

Just for kicks, here is a 98mm BW turbo. Not EXACTLY the same as the BEP one but same size.. yeah I don't think you could spool it on a 2gnt.

The build thread it came from (AWD Supra w/ 1FZ engine):

Well what trim was yours Mikey? .53? And on 20psi you only put down 300whp. I'm not saying its not possible, just would be very hard, just like 4g guys going over 400 on a 16g. Its possible but not very easy.

was putting out 20psi and doing 300whp because my ignition was STILL STOCK. you know that. and no, mine is 57.

Thanxs for the input guys.... I've heard the 60-1 makes real nice HP..
But in the end it all comes down to how the setup works together and even more the tune of the car.

I know of a 420a here in PR that makes close to 500hp on a 60-1 @ 24psi and 400+ lb/tq.

I really got to get in touch with that dude! need some info on his setup!

Also, there is another one that made 507hp @ 28 psi dunno exactly what turbo but it was a t4.

I think i'll let that special pass and gather more info on what turbo to use.

Sorry man but still, your not going to get 100whp from tuning ignition. Sorry.

Well, dunno know what it is but here in PR there's a lot of stuff that just does not go with common sense. We got lot's of crazy builds that just seem imposible, yet they get awesome results.

For instance my neighbor has a drag car, and he runs 11.5:1 comp @ 44 psi of boost.. that's just crazy..! it does do 600hp! lol let me get you a vid!

I think this one's are way before it had the 600hp but.. still it's nice!

This one's on the dyno when they were tunning the 11.5:1 comp setup.

Here's an evo 9 from one of PR's best tuners:

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/speedclubprcom-Dyno_204379.htm

He got a lil more out of it...lol:
dyno slip.

What I'm trying to say is that it is not imposible to do what I want to do but I will probably will have to go to one of these tuners to make it happen.. which means lots of $$ on the tune. But I guess it's worth it.

P.D.

I really got to get me an MS...!

damn you zac. This was about 300whp or 400whp. When the fuck did I say that I tried to make 300 from 20psi. stop doin that.
