106622, Boost Probs. Where Do I Start?
Posted by Babbz413, Jun-05-09 07:46 AM
This morning on the way to work i realized my bov wasnt working. my boost gauge is showing that my engine is running naturally aspirated. no boost. the gauge just goes to 0. it sounds like the turbo is still spooling. but there is no blow off. where do i start first when searching for a solution? and is this going to be bad for my engine? any suggestions are appreciated.

thanks you guys.

You have a massive boost leak somewhere. First step is to check all the IC pipes and couplers thoroughly. My money is on that. Then all the vac lines at the back of the intake manifold if you don't find a loose IC pipe.

No it wont hurt your engine. Just the air is leaking out between turbo and throttle body somewhere.

It actually can hurt your engine if ran for an extended period. The turbo is designed as a system and relies on the return air, if it's just the turbine plumbed in it'll act as an exhaust restriction, and can load the motor up unnecessarily, causing overheating mainly (headgaskets, etc). This won't happen overnight, just saying that if left off for like months and ran like normal to hard, it can be detrimental.
