106316, Greddy profec type-s problem
Posted by 420aVenger, Apr-27-09 08:26 PM
I've tried turning low boost and high boost both up all the way and I can not boost more than 21-22 psi. I did the leak test where you cover the compressor inlet and the motor dies within 2-3 seconds and I can't hear any air sucking in anywhere. The solenoid is supposed to be good to 40 something psi. I have an external 38mm wastegate with a 7-8 psi spring and the NO port on the boost controller valve unit is connected to the intake manifold.

Any suggestions?

most aftermarket boost controllers are only allowed to adjust a % over the minimum wastegate spring pressure. by advertising they can handle up to 40lbs means that is what the spring pressure can contain, however you will prolly need to obtain a larger wastegate spring to achieve the higher "high" boost setting you want.

saying you have a 7lb spring in there now and are only able to get 22-23lbs out of the BC would suggest it has a 15 lb mechanism.

so if you upgrade you wastegate spring to 15lbs then your profec should be able to achieve 30lbs max or so.

hope this helps.
