ok...so i drive a talon ESI and i put a turbo on it (super 20g from hahn) ...here is my question (actually a couple) :/ what is the fastest a 420a has gone in the 1/4 mile? whats the biggest throttle body someone has put in it? but my main question is...whats the biggest turbo you can put on a fwd dsm and get good times? (assuming u got everything to handle it such as lsd, slicks, etc)
any help would be apreciated...tks

NA 13.302. Turbo 10.7. There is a little confusion on the 10.7. The last posted time I have seen is 10.86 by Hahn. Somewhere along the anulls of 420a lore, the number has gotten down to 10.7 by Hahn. But this may become a moot point in the near future.

Kinda a trick question. I could put on a 36" TB. It just wouldn't work. Which brings me to the next point; a gentleman I know put a 90 mm on his (maybe a Q45?) NA. I tried to tell him it would not work well. It didn't. I believe that Dino may have the "biggest" fully functioning. And I'm pretty sure its 75mm.

Unanswerable. Its not up to your turbo, its up to your total set-up.

hey guys!!!! thanks so much for the help...does anyone know what turbo was Hahn running when he hit the 10's? and thanks for the tb answers...im actually looking to upgrade my tb and go with bigger injectors...now if someone was to go with the 40r....would traction be a problem?? and estimating what would it be running with a 40r?? because john shepard when getting to the 6-7 margin i thing he was running a 42r right?? but taking into account the all wheel drive and all that so would it make a big diference with a fwd?

thank you guys!

hahn ran either the s20 or s25g, if i was to guess it was high boost on the 20g, only because they were using those numbers to prove the portfueler and their kit as selling points.

if you were to go with a gt40r you would need to do some serious work to everything. a few of us whom are running 35rs or varients are shooting to beat that 10.9/7 time and go deep into the 10s, however traction is a HUGE issue.

we dont have a lot of room in our wheel wells, unless you have custom hub spacers and install longer studs, your stuck with about 10.1" wide slicks. along with that, a lagit LSD for our cars runs 1k bucks. and axles to handle the stess of a dumped clutch run around 12-1400$

im not saying it cant be done, since a lot of us are right there completing this task, however i know its been 6 years and comming from my front. and many a time i thought about throwing in the towel.

keep in mind like i stated, with a 40r, you will NEED a 3.5" downpipe, and a custom manifold.

efficiently the largest turbo i would go on a streetable 2gnt and still obtain low 1/4 times would be a gt35r;gt35/40r;sc61;or hx40 for a full out drag you could go gt40r but it would require a lot more fitment and custom work.

as for throttle body bore size. most run a modern performance 60mm, or bored stock throttle body at 55mm, you can run a mustang 75mm throttle body if you heavily modify the stock intake manifold and or make your own intake plenum, and you need MS to prop. get the car running and idle correctly.

phantom is junk for anything over 300hp. but it will "do" for now.

also look into diff. pin plates. I'm not a huge fan of welding it.

the largest turbo i would go would be a gt35/40r if you did the 2.4L swap.

but even a GT35r is capable of over 600whp.

i suggest if you plan on sticking with the 420a to go with a 2.2 stroker or at min. go with a long rod set up.

Hahn ran a Super 25G and used Nitrous to keep the turbo spooled up in between shifts.

drive shaft shop axles ONLY come from www.driveshaftshop.com

quafie LSD's you'll have to do a search for, keep in mind if you automatic the quafie does not fit, only in the MTX's

peloquin is known for making european diffs. similar to the quafie style

here is the direct link to the peloquin for the a413 automatic.
