106292, EVO 9 fmic Posted by fresh95, Apr-25-09 08:47 AM
Right now I have the oem evo fmic on my car. I was considering switching to a big ebay front-mount. Performance-wise, is there any gains to be made, or should I just stick with the evo one. Thanks in advance. By the way, I'm right around 250whp with the evo fmic and it seems to be doing great.

if it's doing great, why change it? waste of money if right now it's fine IMO

Depends on your set-up/turbo etc. There's a reason that its called a system; the sum total of the parts.

If the Evo IC is holding its own, consider investing the money into other areas of your project you'd like to see improve. If you like to hit the track once in a while, maybe find another set of stock wheels for race rubber. If you don't have the rear sway bar, consider adding it for flatter cornering. Just some random ideas, since we don't know your setup.

My setup consists of:
built block 8.8 Je/eagle rods pt rockers and lifters arp main and headstuds melling hi vol. oil pump
hahn portfueler tuned by me :) turbonetics t3 super 60 treadstone mani
stock head and intake mani.
I took my car through the ditch and bent up the bottom row on the fmic and was basically using that as an excuse to buy a new one. With that being said, I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't be Downgrading to an ebay one. But, I think that since it still holds pressure fine and looks ok, I will at least use it for this summer.

Hmmm... Was wondering how well your EVO 9 FMIC fits on your car? Was it a pain to modify to fit properly? The reason I ask is because I have a EVO VIII FMIC that will be going on my car.

I'd look into a port n polish, Crower 2 cams, gasket matching and a 60mm TB before i touched any more of the turbo components as you will see more gains from these recommendations then changing your IC
