I'm currently collecting parts to boost my 99 GS, and am comfortable with everything except the fuel system.. I've decided to go the FMU route, at least for now, and eventually MSnS in the future. Why not now? Cause I just wanna get up and running, then build the Megasquirt myself and have time to fully understand it.

I've done LOTS of research.. probably TOO much, cause I've seen so many different ways of doing it that now I'm confused. Here's the one that makes the most sense to me, meant to be used with a SFMU:



But I've also seen setups with the FMU in the back with the fuel filter, etc. Could someone just clear up, once and for all, what the BEST way of doing this is. I mean, which lines to cut/replace, where the place the different elements (filter, FMU, etc). I know things are different for a 95 and the 96-99, but not sure exactly how.

I've been searching how to install also and that is the same schematic I found. But I think it is different with the sfmu. Soo confusing.

You have a 99 so your FPR is on top of your fuel filter. This means you do not have a return line that runs to the front of the car so you must mount the FMU in the back. Take the hose that runs from the stock FPR and split it, run the line from your FPR to the bottom port of the FMU and run the side port of the FMU to the tank return. Then just run a vac line to the motor.

So the fmu is run in series in the return line from the stock fpr?

Correct. When you look at the SFMU diagram the stock FPR has to get taken out bc the SFMU can preform as a regulator. The FMU cant work as a regualtor so you must use it in series with the stock FPR

yes you are right, the ideal flow-path is: out of the fuel pump, into one end of the rail; out the other end of the rail, into the regulator side port(s); out the regulator bottom port, back to the tank at the top. Dual rail applications should employ a Y-block to split the supply line before entering the rails, then individual lines are run from the opposite end of each rail to each inlet port on the regulator.

Doesn't the line from the FPR run to the very bottom port on the FMU and not the side? Its been a while since I have used one but I think thats how I had mine done.
